Yes.. it will ont work on any n-gage..... becuase N-gage, nokia 7650 and nokia 3650(3660) dont allow addon extensions (codecs..) so you can play them as ringtone or by builtin
recorder...anyway you can still hear MP3s on your n-gage by using any s60 mp3 player.........

It worked perfectly for my good ol' 6600 --> 5.27 NHL-10....thanks a ton

ps..i didnt even had to restart the device....

adding the information what i did to use the mp3s' as ringtone..

1) downloaded from 1st post in the thread.
2) i use Goldwave 5.08 to make my ringtones & audio editing purposes
so i launch goldwave ..open the mp3 file & save it as 96kbps with ~44khz mp3 file

3) IMPORTANT
open the new mp3 file in Winamp & add ID3-V2 Tag
without this step my phone couldnt run the file...(but only dispayed )

4) set the ringtone & enjoy maadi. ^_^
