ABBYY Lingvo 12 Multilingual Version – 128 dictionaries for 10 languages

The version 12 now includes the Collins English Dictionary, the 8th edition (120,000 entries), an authoritative explanatory dictionary of the English language published by HarperCollins Publishers in 2006. It includes definitions of English words with etymological references and will be very useful for translators and advanced users of English.

Authoritative and Up-to-date Dictionaries

ABBYY Lingvo 12 Multilingual Version contains over 7,400,00 entries in 128 dictionaries, including general, professional, specialized, regional, explanatory dictionaries as well as thesauri, phrasebooks, dictionaries of idioms and abbreviations. Most of these dictionaries are electronic versions of the authoritative (licensed by famous publishers, such is Russkij Yazyk, Collins, etc.) and up-to-date printed dictionaries, 80% of which are published in 2003 — 2006.

It also includes ABBYY Lingvo Universal, a comprehensive English-Russian dictionary created and constantly updated by ABBYY’s lexicographers for the last sixteen years. In the years 2004-2006, ABBYY Lingvo Universal was significantly revised in collaboration with Russkiy Yazyk Publishing House to be published as a printed version. Now the dictionary contains 50,000 entries enhanced by new translations and usage examples including 1,000 completely new entries.

Detailed Information on Each Word

All the dictionary entries contain actual and detailed information on each word and word combination with various translations, abundant word-use examples from real sources (books, newspapers and other publications), grammar references, synonyms, antonyms, variant spellings, phonetic transcriptions and pronunciations. Russian words are provided with indication of stress.





Pop-up Translation by Pointing the Cursor

With ABBYY Lingvo 12 Multilingual version, you can get instant translations of unfamiliar words when browsing the Web, reading e-mails or texts on-screen. Simply point the cursor to a word and its translation will pop up.

If need detailed information about the word, including all its meanings, translations and usage examples, press Alt, Ctrl or Shift key on your keyboard and while holding it down click on the word you are interested in. Alternatively, you can select the word and press Ctrl+Ins+Ins or Ctrl+C+C.

Powerful Full-text Search Capabilities

In addition to comprehensive vocabulary, ABBYY Lingvo 12 offers the full-text search capabilities allowing users to search for words and word combinations in all texts of its dictionaries including headwords, translations, examples of use, and comments.



Installation on PDA and Smartphone

ABBYY Lingvo can be installed on a desktop PC, notebook, handheld PC, smartphone and network server allowing users to read, write, and translate foreign texts as well as study languages at any time and place.
The mobile versions for pocket computers and smartphones are bundled with the desktop version of ABBYY Lingvo 12.





Lingvo Tutor – utility for learning languages

The program comes with a tool for learning words, Lingvo Tutor. With it, you can set up your study schedule, create your own word study dictionary or use one of the basic dictionaries included in the program. The Lingvo Tutor tool can also be installed on a pocket computer helping users to learn words on every possible occasion at any place.

Install it like how the txt file inside licenses.rar says how and choose the support for Symbian Smartphones at the two times you get the option.

Go to the Start Menu, All Programs, ABBYY Lingvo 12, PDA Setup Manager, Smartphone Symbian OS(TM)

Open the SymbianOS_English.htm file and read the instructions. For UIQ2, just install the version in the uiq folder. For UIQ3, install the version attached.

Thanks a lot for the uiq 3.0 ; i have transffered it to my p990, installed it successfully.

but i couldn't see "ABBYY Lingvo\Dic" folder on a memory card. I created one myself, but still, my ABBYY dictionary is 'word-less'.
