6230 Hot or Not?

Hi Everyone,

I trying to decide wether to buy me a 6230 or not. I know what specs it has, but are there also some negative aspects to the phone?
I saw some pictures taken with it, and there are coming new phones with 1 megapix camera\'s.... should I wait?

I now have a 6610, so I do not need! a new phone for talking, only for gaming or other fun things.

Hope anyone has some suggestions!!!!!!

Don\'t wait for Mpixel cams.. It won\'t be that much of an improvement.. Besides, you will want to take those pictures with your actual cam anyway, since they will turn out just much better..
The pics taken with 6230 are quite ok. Really nothing wrong with them, just, they can\'t beat pics taken with digital cams. 1,3Mpixels won\'t change that, those images still won\'t be as good..
For the rest, it\'s really a great phone.. There are still a few software bugs in the versions out now, but they will be fixed soon I hope. You could wait for the newer versions to ship but hey, the update will be free anyway if there are major bugs.. I\'ll have mine done when the time is right.. for now i\'m really satisfied with mine. The cam is great fun, radio is always handy and the mmc slot is just awesome for the mediaplayer.. will buy myself a 256mb card in time..
Java stuff is also good for the 6230.. Just getting it on the phone is quite some work since you need to do it thru the application installer. I tried to put the apps on my mmc card and load them that way, but they just won\'t work that way.. Guess that\'s not any different from other nokia\'s tho.. My sl45i used to work that way. Too bad nokia chose a different path.

Anyway, just get it.. You won\'t regret

i absolutely agree with tummeke. two weeks ago i was hunting for the phone like madand when i finally got it it was like the gates of heavens opened right before my eyes.

Style and function speaking this phone is THE Phone and since you already know the specs well i won\'t elaborate further.

Also agreeing with tummeke the mmc slot is one heck of an advantage. recently i just got myself a 256 mmc card and the memory offers me a HUGE amount of songs and displays which was loaded into my phone.

If you are looking for a downpoint here are a few:
-i think this is personal but i\'ll say anyway, the key pad is a little hard to get used to
-the camera\'s not as good as a samsung v700
That\'s all i can think of.

Other than that everything else seems to outweigh these two character flaws of this phone.

My advise to you is grab it before the price increases. Enjoy!

And yes, for photo-album pix, I will definatly use my digital cam.

So I will have to buy me a 256 MMC also? Okay, I will start saving money right away...

You can best use a cardreader and take out your MMC card.. Bluetooth and IR are too slow for that. Cardreader is the best option for me.. Was implemented in my notebook anyway, so for me it\'s definately the easiest way.
Cardreaders are fast and not that expensive.. Bluetooth however will take about 3 mins for 1 song, so that\'s not an option for me..

Just got one today. So far I\'m really pleased with it. The screen is crisp and clear but I think the 6600 seems clearer even though they have the same resolution. Picture quality is great too.

got mine 6230 now for a week (had a 6610 before that). After some playing around with it, i must agree with most ppl; its a great phone!!

Its screen is a lot better then the one in the 6610 (mostly because of the active tft & 65k colours).

The only downside i can find (now) is that the headset sucks. Im planning on removing the headphones and fixing some Sony headphone on it instead (it will increase the sound quality alot better). Ducht ppl: see gathering of tweakers for a tuturia.

Other downside is that its mediaplayer doesn\'t has a resume function (very annoying when watching movies :P )

Hi there , i agree with u ppl. it is one of the best phones on the moment. it\'s small, it has the classic look ( that was one of the most important reasons i bought this phone), the cam is good and it has a video camara. but that also a downside for me.

The quality is poor. But what the heck, for one of the first phones with a video camara is quit oke...

So if you want a new phone with lots of cool stuff on it but doesn\'t look to flashy... this is the one!

but tehr is one thing a want to know... where can i get movies for my mediaplayer. those any body knows a site where i can download them from?

yup,
just download any movie you like (in .avi, divx or whatever) and convert it with the Nokia Media Converter. Download it here:

Don\'t forget to register!
It will convert all your stuff into .3gp files. :P

Yes the Nokia 6230 is an excellent phone, but some people say the screens to small, just like all series 40 phones.
