Nokia: Nice, innovative designs, more set for teen users, etc. Wonderful phone for people my age due to the games, features, especially the good service. One flaw is that the screen is so small and the pictures from the camera are the same way.
Sony Ericsson: More sophisticated design with a few added features such as the ability to change the theme of your phone. I just switches to this phone from a nokia, I was leaning towards something a bit more sophisticated, and that screen on the nokia was getting more annoying looking at it and seeing what screens other friends of mine had.
i agree nokia is a good phone

nokia has a bit more variety but doesnt make up for the style of sonys, sony technology is way better too.
The battery life of every Nokia phone is way better than the batterylife of Sony Ericsson
I had: Ericsson: T10, T18, T20, T68i
Nokia: 6210, 3310, 6100 (have now)

Sony has to many breakable parts. I had an Ericsson T68 and the joystick , the status lever and the center access button broke. :casstet:

Both phones makers have their pluses and minuses.
From Nokia the phones are, in my opinion, getting much uglier as stated above. Moving the buttons around like that just does not appeal to me. Why not put half the buttons on the front and the other half on the back? That would make it even more difficult to SMS. Perhaps only worse is the Siemens SX1 button positions. Nokias also have a common problem of system lockup which requires some form of reset for recovery. Again, in my opinion, this problem surfaces far more often in Nokias than phone by the other leading vendors. As for physical strength, I would put both the Nokia and SE phones at about the same level.
Nokia does lead market share but that is being eroded very fast. They definitely need to take steps to fix that problem. Also, the market share they have comes more from lower end/cheaper phones which are less profitable.
SE has a good design at a better price point than Nokia. There biggest failure is in the menus, they are almost always slower than the user. You do get use to this shortcoming but at first it is a burden. The actual menu layout is very good and getting better with each new series released. The phones support Mophun which most Nokias do not. If you aren\'t into gaming then that is not a plus or minus. I would like to see (and we will) more memory in future models for pictures and games.
SE market share is growing at a steady pace and shows no signs of slowing. Also, the market share SE has tends to be more towards the higher end/more profitable phones which has been very good for them. They have gone from losses to profitability in a very short time in a tough market. SE also has a big advantage of being a dominant force in the Japanese marketplace. They can try out new technologies in that market which is more willing to accept the non tried-and-true technology and then bring the good portions to the European market place. This offers them a better test bed which Nokia just does not have.
The market is always changing and newer and better technology is the dominant force. Two years ago everyone wanted camera phones, now they all want better quality camera phones with video and MP3 and other niceties. The bar keeps being raised in this battle and the company which is able to meet the new market demands will stay on top.

I have had 5 Nokia phones, not a single failure on any. Must be best on the market. :)

in my opinion, since nokia keep on producing new models every now and then.. it is easy for one model to become \"out-of-date\"
