the clock speed of your processor isnt calculated this way. if its 2.8ghz, its 2.8ghz.

thanks for all your replies and opinions, but may i say something about what Leerz said, its not that your wrong but PC and MAC arent like comparing a spoon+fork to chpsticks, they both play music, dvds, both have internet, both have an operating system, keyboard, usb, mouse, hard drive, screen etc, so they aint that different.

thanks to everyone who voted in the poll and shared theire pc specs

p.s. can i also get everyones opinion on what i said earlier. i said that my pc had two 2.8ghz so the total would be 5.6ghz, but then 012345 said this isnt how you measure clock speed.
so can you all please reply with what you think. am i right or is 012345 right?

thanks, appreciate all your replies

buddy, posting these links to applications swerves this topic on a diff direction, post them on the internet, software, hardware forum dude ;)
but i don't think it would be necessary since all the stuff you have posted "has already been posted" but hey, its great to have mirrors ;)

but PC and MAC arent like comparing a spoon+fork to chpsticks, they both play music, dvds, both have internet, both have an operating system, keyboard, usb, mouse, hard drive, screen etc, so they aint that different.
precisely my point, spoon, fork to chopsticks ;) they can be both used for eating(or playing dvd, games for computers )

microsoft itself(probably the company that dominates the pc world)
doesnt even see the mac as a competitor since people will get the machine that will best suite their needs and comply with their necessities

You obviously mean 7900GTX right???If not, give me a linkto the 9700 you're talking about cause I've never heard of it...

by the way I think the entire thread should be moved to PC section...it's about computers after all :D

I have some questions, my processor is a P4 2.6 ghz hyperthreading (HT) but in directx 9.0c, it's being recognized as P4 2.6 ghz dual core. This processor was bought more than two years ago, does that mean I'm actually using a dual core processor???

For the record, I'm using one P4 3 ghz pc and my 2.6 ghz is much faster..

The rest of my specs are:
1 gig ddram
d865 perl intel mobo
Nvidia FX5700 256mb vid card overclocked to 475/594
1 maxtor 40 gig drive and 1 maxtor 120 gig drive
AOC 19" flat screen CRT
standard peripherals...
Logitech Momo Racing forcefeedback steering wheel
Logitech 2.4 chordless joystick.

All my specs are more than two years old(one drive is over three years old) except for the momo racing and can play all the latest games around, though not a hardcore setup :D
All in perfect(though a bit dusty) condition, thanks to APC UPC :D

to theodore1: there was an typo error. haha. its 7900GTX.

to dimago: if your CPU has HT technology, the computer sees its as 2 logical processor.

HT means running 2 threads simultanously on 1 processor. however, dual core means that there are 2 core in one processor. so one thread will go into one core. just like those single core processor without HT technology.

05-18-2006, 03:27 PM
oh I'm going for the 7900GT cause the 7900GTX costs to much...and directx10 are on the way.....so it would be stupid to buy an edge card and a month later a guy with an 8200 will beat my ass

012345
05-18-2006, 03:36 PM
yeah. true. why not get 7600GT instead? its pretty good.

eloi@hotmail.co.uk
05-18-2006, 04:23 PM
thanks everyone for the replies :)

p.s. regards to what theodore1 said, does anyone know when microsft are going to release directx 10?

thanks again, and remember to keep voting in the poll!!

theodore1
05-18-2006, 09:01 PM
Well 7600 costs about 300 euros while 7900GT cost about 360 euros....So obviously a small difference in money for a big difference in power ;)

Rumours say that dx10 will be out in this Summer..Of course that's only rumours cause if anyone really knew the date,he could kill all GPU sales...:D
