What's New

- Country information has been updated as of 22 January 2009. Economic data now includes 2008 estimates where available.

- In the People category, two new fields provide information on education in terms of opportunity and resources: “School Life Expectancy” and “Education expenditures.”

- In order to provide more information on the nature and global dimensions of the current financial crisis, The World Factbook has added five new fields to the Economy category: "Central bank discount rate," "Commercial bank prime lending rate," "Stock of money," "Stock of quasi money," and "Stock of domestic credit."

- In the Geography category, two new fields focus on the increasingly vital resource of water: “Total renewable water resources” and “Freshwater withdrawal.”

- Revision of some individual country maps, first introduced in the 2001 edition, is continued in this edition. Several regional maps have also been updated to reflect boundary changes and place name spelling changes.

How to install ?

The CIA World Factbook 2009 comes in html format, and than i convert it into .pdb format.
Why ".pdb" format? because this format is faster than PDF format and Java aplications, it can be used in different devises including Symbian supported devices, it can be read by iSilo software.

For Symbian S60 3rd edition:

1- Install iSilo software, you can find the last version in this forum or download the attached version of isilo ver.5.05
2- Download "The_CIA_Worldfact_Book_2009" acording to your devise screen size

3- Unrar it, and transfer to your phone memory card, put it in "E:/Documents/isilo" directory
4- Open iSilo software and than chose "The_CIA_Worldfact_Book_2009" open it and then click on
Menu(isilo menu)-> Edit->Options->Layout->Disable table layout->Ok
5- Enjoy it !!!

For other platforms:

1- Download and install the appropriate version of iSilo for your device [SIZE="2"] here [/SIZE]
2- Transfert the .pdb file to your device and open it using iSilo.
3- Enjoy it

The World Factbook is no longer available in a print edition. The CIA has made a decision to focus Factbook resources exclusively on the World Wide Web online edition, which is updated with new material every two weeks. Please look for the newly redesigned Factbook website coming in spring 2009.
