Self Signed Certificate... Can I use it?

    Hello Imserbians,

I have learned to make self-signed certificates. These kinds of certificates can be used for signing themes.
I have two questions. Please help me to reach the answers:
1- Can I upload self signed certificate to my Nokia N95-2? If the answer is ‘yes’, how can I do this?
2- If I sign the unsigned sis applications with this X509 standart, 2048 bit DSA certificate, and upload the very same certificate to my phone, can I use the signed sis applications without any problem when I intended to install those applications?

I have used Cygwin program with OpenSSL support to make DSA certificates. It is quite simple but I thought it can’t be possible when it is that easy…

    Sincerely,
    JB.

am.. I do not understand the first question you can upload ANYTHING to your device, I think... you can do it using a cable, bluetooth connection or whatever you want. (but you cannot install it, like in Windows environment).

if you sign applications using 'self-sign' mode, you are not able to install some of them. it depends on application's UID. if it looks like this: 0x0(and other 7 symbols), you can self-sign it ind install successfully. it if in UID the first symbol after "x" is not "0", then you must sign this app using normal certificate generated for your IMEI.

I'm not sure, but I guess that you can change UID by repacking .sis packages.....

yes you are right. I meant installation the self signed certificate on telephone.
There is a personal certificates section of the telephone. I thought if I can put the certificate there, I can solve the problem.
    Sincerely,
    JB
