Customer Rating: Summary: Hard to read -- look at the Look Inside! link Comment: I'm not buying this. Look at the "Look Inside!" link. All of the text from cover to cover consists of chicken scratchings. I need a typewritten book, my eyes can't take that.
Customer Rating: Summary: Oh so visual... Comment: I loved the visual aspect of this book. As someone who likes to see things and how they work (ie. a visual learner) this book was great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great book to review with and well illustrated for beginners! Comment: If you are an electronics technician who wants to review the basics and get back in to the field this book is a very easy read and also quite short. When I showed the book to a friends 11 year old daughter she immediately recognized some of the projects from school and expressed interest in building others. Once I'm done with this book its going to her. Forest Mims does a great job of explaining electronics without overwhelming new and refreshing techs.
Customer Rating: Summary: Check Out A Few "Surprise Me" Pages Before Ordering! Comment: Forrest Mims uses a very unusual and unexpected style in his electonics books. You'll probably be surprised when you see that the text and the diagrams are hand-lettered and manually sketched, instead of being professionally typeset and drawn. I personally find this kind of book quite hard to read as compared to the normal engineering book format, especially if I need to scan through the pages rapidly. This particular book seems easier to use than some of his other books, which IMHO are so carelessly scrawled that they are almost unreadable. Of course your mileage may vary, but please check out a few "surprise me" pages and make sure that you know what to expect before you order this book.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it and you will too... Comment: I was looking for a book to help me understand more about circuits and electronics and boy did I hit the jackpot. If you are like me and a visual learner this book is perfect. It has simple, fun drawings to describe various electronic parts and how they work together. There are also quite a few circuit diagrams included that range from simple to some what complex. I highly recommend this book to anyone that has any interest in electronics and circuits.
