Summary: It is Utterly ridiculous this film is not on dvd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment: This film is an overlooked masterpiece. Jessica lange, Joan Cusack, and Chris O'Donnell(in his film debut) are excellent, as is the entire film. It's very well acted, written, directed, and musically scored. Another screen gem languishing in the vault unreleased, to the detriment of audiences all over the world who are missing out on such a wonderful film. You'd think Warner Bros. would want to release it and make money, why they haven't is beyond me. They need to this year already, we've waited long enough. I'm so sick of going to Best Buy and seeing such putrid selections of lame films available on dvd knowing this film, as well as "Resurrection" w/ Elloen Burstyn, Sam Shepard, and Richard Farnsworth, are not able to be purchased on dvd. It's a crying shame and both Universal(anamorphic dvd's of "Psycho", "Somewhere In Time", and "Resurrection") and Warner Bros.(anamorphic dvd of "Men Don't Leave") should be ashamed of themselves for not releasing these classic, beautiful films in the proper modern format they deserve. I thought they wanted to make money, well they're losing out on quite a bit of it by not putting these films on dvd. Get 'r' done Warner's and Universal, enough waiting already, there's no reason for it.

Summary: I've been through it myself. Very emotional for me .
Comment: This film was extremely emotional for me because I lost my father when I was 4 years old. Although I don't remember him very well, I went through the same emotions that Matt went through in the film. It was as if the writer knew exactly what I went through.
My mother was also depressed and my goal in life was to make her happy so I hid my emotions. I tried everything in the world to make my mother happy, not thinking about myself.
I too wondered if my father knew what I was doing. And I too wanted to know when the pain would stop.
It has gotten better now that I have a 6 year old son, but when I see how attached he is to me, I feel sad thinking about what I went through.
God has blessed me with a beautiful family now so I am greatful for that.
This is one of my all time favorite films. The acting, the music, emotions.
It was very emotional for me to watch and I have it in my collection as one of my favorite films.
Sometimes we wonder if some films are real stories or if they can be true. I identified with this film completely.

Summary: Should be on DVD - One of My Favorites!
Comment: This movie is a gem. It is not only about the widow wonderfully portrayed by Jessica Lange. All of the characters are dealing with difficulties in their lives and find a connection with each other that is so endearing. Each is acted superbly by Arliss Howard (divorced father), Kathy Bates (angry business owner), and a bittersweet performance by Joan Cusack as a lonely x-ray technician - What a cast! Chris O'Donnell as the older son does a great job in one of his earliest roles. This movie also has a superb music score by Thomas Newman that really adds to the atmosphere of this film. Why is this not on DVD!!!
