FEARED AND REVERED, MALCOM X CRYSTALLIZED THE HOPES AND DREAMS OF BLACKS, DEMANDING HUMAN RIGHTS FOR AFRICAN AMERICANS DURING THE RACIALLY TUMULTUOUS AND DIVISIVE DECADES OF THIS 1950S AND 60S UNTIL HIS 1965 ASSASSINATION IN NEW YORK, AT THE AGE OF THIRTY NINE.

Customer Rating: Summary: Malcolm's Quest For Justice... Comment: For the most part, I did not like this movie because I wish Malcolm had
not become a Muslim, having perceived the hypocrisy of they who claimed
to worship the God of Israel but did not...Malcolm gave up on Christianity
it seemed, and they who called themselves Christians were never willing
it seems to accept the truths that Malcolm poured into their ears.
To wit, Christian "churches" in the US have been calling people of colour,
Canaanites, claiming that they are born to be slaves, that slavery is condoned
in the Bible (KJV). Actually, this word, slave, only appears once in the King
James Version of the Holy Bible. 'Canaanite', the "root word" of which is
Canaan: the Son of Ham, who was the third son of Noah. Noah cursed Canaan
for what Ham did: His curse is a similitude. You do not want to be a "Son of
Sam" (a Canaanite), you want to be a Son of God. It is not genetics, but behaviour,
which shall determine whether you are to be regarded as a Son of God, or as a
Canaanite. One of the Apostles is recorded in the Bible (KJV) as being a Canaanite
(person), a descendant of Canaan, but that does not mean his skin colour was as
the spots on a leopard, or that he was a Canaanite (nature)...Do not confuse
PERSON with NATURE: For some fathers are not fathers.
There were two powerful scenes which I still remember, along
with several others, but those two stood out for me: In one, near the
beginning of the film, when after the white girls "go free" and the two black
males receive lengthy sentences for the same crime, Malcolm finds himself
befriended by an intellectual, who tells him to look up the words BLACK
and WHITE in a dictionary and see how they are defined...Brain poisoning...
A dirty mind needs to be washed.
Black and white are colours. But then why did "they" assign all those other definitions
to these two words, recording them in dictionaries (reference guides)? Why associate
the colour black with darkness, or the colour white with light? For that which appears
as light might be evil, and that which is coloured black might be full of light?
Consider obtaining the DVD with that cover art, which is a black background with a
white X upon it. For it might help you see more clearly.
Also, consider that this word FAIR means "feminine beautiful", but a dictionary might
not tell you that. Some women have white skin colour, but they are not fair. Naomi
Campbell, an African American Model is fair. The moon is fair. The moon is feminine,
whereas the sun is masculine. See, Isaiah 13:10; Isaiah24:23; Job 31:26-28, KJV.
The masculine covers the feminine, like a garment, does it not? Consider, a mother
with a child. Consider what is called, a lunar (or solar) eclipse. See, John 7:24, KJV.
The other scene is where Elijah holds up a glass of crystal clean pure water,
and tells Malcolm this is what their people need. He is referring to TRUTH,
but unfortunately he takes Malcolm on a journey called Islam. But that glass
of water...makes powerful sense, for it speaks of SOBRIETY, and also the need
for the PURE, and "unadulterated" TRUTH...Not half-truths, not truths sandwiched
between lies, but the whole truth, and nothing but the truth...Will you drink
that which is poison, or unclean? Filter: Refuse the evil, and choose the good.
You want "the real thing".
Who desires Truth, Judgement, Justice, Love?
What will it cost? Who can restore a man's sense of dignity and self-respect
but God alone? For you cannot get them to love you. Love is freely given,
and cannot be coerced. Malcolm seemed to learn that during the course of
the movie. Or maybe he always knew, but lacked self-confidence, the ability
to express what he already knew within...That was the impression I got. But
I still found it, and do find it, sad to watch, being a Christian.
Would I recommend this movie to others? I guess I just did.
Customer Rating: Summary: A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Comment: THE MOVIE WAS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT AFTER READING THE BOOK(AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF MALCOM X BY ALEX HALEY). THE MOVIE HAD SOME GREAT ACTORS LIKE DENZEL WASHINGTON AND YET, IT WAS STILL VERY DULL. "DIRECTOR" SPIKE LEE RUINED A GREAT CHANCE OF TELLING THE AMAZING STORY OF MALCOM X.
Customer Rating: Summary: Denzel Washington's finest performance Comment: Denzel Washington did deserve an Oscar for his performance in "Training Day," but he should have won it earlier in his career. "Malcolm X" truly showcases the man's greatest acting abilities. Here, he portrays a legendary figure known throughout the world as Malcolm X. The man is one of the most important and most interesting African Americans of the United States, and Washington "became" him in the film. He didn't just act as Malcolm X; he became the man whenever he was on screen. Just listen to the speeches that he gives in the film. Now that's almost scary, considering that he sounds almost like the real Malcolm X!
But this isn't all about Washington, either. Spike Lee's direction, the beautiful shots of Mecca, the period sets and costumes, the memorable performances of Angela Bassett and Delroy Lindo, and the tearjerker ending are just some of the reasons why this film should be watched. It's a classic film that will never die.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another aamzing performance from Denzel! Comment: Purchased this along with Glory. What can I say but the man is amazing. The way he personafies Malcom in this movie is incredible. Denzel and Spike, you've outdone yourselves with this one!
Customer Rating: Summary: Highlights of Malcom X the movie Comment: This movie shows a lot of details about the late Malcom X before and after Islam. Malcom was a drinker smoker & drug user, a smooth criminal, until he was locked up for 8 years for robbery. He met this brother from the radical Nation of Islam which he accepted. After Malcom was released and started talking to people about Eligahi Muhammud and the nation of Islam, his so called brothers started to hate on him. Malcom knew that Islam did not teach hatred, that it's not about skin tone but it's about piety to the One true God. This is a good movie it's deep! I say more power to brother Malcom for opening his heart to Islam. Any group that teach hatered is not a religion it's a seperatist radical man made club, not a house of God. Malcom knew that skin tone does not define a persons character.
