The high-quality carbon steel blade has a PTFE coating, which reduces friction and helps facilitate the removal of the blade from wood. The 4-1/2-pound axe is smartly designed and easy to use. The 28-inch handle consists of a sturdy glass fiber-reinforced polyamide and is molded around the head to prevent loosening and separation. This ax is much lighter than ones with wooden handles and less likely to break at the neck. You can use the face of the ax as a sledge with Fiskars's splitting wedge for large blocks of wood. The ax comes complete with a plastic sheath for carrying and safe storage and includes a lifetime warranty.

Also the handle is about 6-8 inches too short imo. But if you're careful it won't make a difference. Split 3 cords without too much trouble. Before the Fiskars, my friend and I got his maul stuck numerous times and needed a wedge and sledge hammer to split it. I've yet to get my Fiskars stuck...not once. It's very sharp, light enough to use for a long time, and haven't noticed any problems with the length. I'm hoping it gives me years of good service.
