Customer Rating: Summary: Great in-depth articles on little known islands Comment: As avid travelers (and lover of islands, specifically), my husband & I love getting our Islands. Sometimes it gives us great ideas as a jumping off point for our next vacation... other times, well-written articles accompanied by beautiful photography makes us book a vacation to that spot. Yes, there are helpful articles about the big islands: Hawaii, Fiji, Bali, Society Islands (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora)... but this is the magazine to turn to if you're going to Aitutaki, or one of the many islands in Southeast Asia.
I wouldn't really rely on Islands as a budget travel guide, but more of an inspiration as to which island to head to next.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not Bad But Not Great Eather Comment: Got a year sub to this magazine as a year to Caribbean, the later is a better buy... for me anyways. One month Islands would be great the next month id have a hard time finding something of interest to read. The pictures are always great, i love to travel. I might try this one out for another year. Tahiti and Bora Bora are our next stop i think so id hate to miss out on some more info. If anything try it out for a year.
Customer Rating: Summary: 70% ads 20% photos 10% articles Comment: I used to be a subscriber of this magazine, believing it would have some interesting articles about islands - boy was I wrong. You could think the folks at this magazine are illiterate, and are only thinking about the money. All there is to this magazine are loads and loads, pages beyond pages of advertisement. Not even interesting advertisements but more for the rich and wealthy. In between are a few nice photos, and maybe they throw in a couple of articles, which can all be finished in about 7 minutes. No need to say, I cancelled my subscription.
Customer Rating: Summary: Islands magazine review Comment: This is a very nice magazine. The pictures are always high quality. The articles are interesting and provide different viewpoints, depending on the author. The magazine does a good job of mixing islands from different parts of the world, not just the Carribean or South Pacific.
Ordering through Amazon was a good experience - the price was low and the magazine started coming much earlier than they had projected. My wait time was only about 3 weeks rather than the projected 8 to 12 weeks.
I would order again.
Customer Rating: Summary: it helps to dream (and plan) about future vacations Comment: The pictures are beautiful. If you can't travel much but love the island atmosphere, then this magazine is for you. You may also gets tips along the way, which may help you to plan your own island vacation someday. This is a good way to become acquainted with many remote and beautiful parts of God's world.
I have been getting this magazine for 3 years now. Delivery is prompt. The printing is good. The journalism is acceptable. The cost is very good compared to other magazines. Enjoy!
