Summary: Kingdom Hearts, One of the Best in All the Worlds
Comment: Kingdom Hearts for the PlayStation 2 is on the top 50 games of all time list for any person that can enjoy any form of media.

In Kingdom Hearts you play as Sora, a teenaged boy from Destiny Islands, where the world is soon taken over by darkness, brought upon by creatures called the Heartless, who are hearts that have been corrupted by darkness and taken over by it. In the game you team up with Donald Duck, the Court Wizard of King Mickey Mouse, and Goofy, Captain of the Royal Guard. While with them you travel and warp between several different different Disney Worlds, staving off the Heartless and trying to find Sora's best friends, Riku and Kairi.

This game is what is called a "hack-n-slash" RPG. In an RPG such as this, you are continually pressing the attack button, but surprisingly that requires strategy. The battle system is flawless, but is slightly repetitive. However, the variation of abilities and enemis and battlefields and worlds completely negates that little problem.

A compelling storyline to along with all this creates a game that will surprise and delight people of all ages.

Summary: In my top 3 fav games of all time
Comment: If you like adventure games where you upgrade powers/weapons, etc. and like any type of disney characters, then this is for you! I'm not a huge disney fan, but wow.. this game has it all:
1) Awesome gameplay - camera angles aren't bad, but the shoulder buttons help
2) Plot - one of my favorite plots (up there with Resident Evil 4) and music in the game is great
3) Difficulty - some of the puzzles take a little figuring out, but aren't "God of War" difficult (in my opinion). Fighting enemies can seem daunting, but you can "level up" in other worlds

I did spend hundreds of hours playing this game (beating it several times) and it's one that I'd never get rid of, and would play through again... I can't wait for KH3 on PS3...

Summary: A Mixed Package
Comment: Kingdom Hearts: It's what you get when you combine classic RPG with platform puzzles, action adventures, and a bit of a shooter. All in all, it creates a new genre of gaming experience, one that can probably only be classified as a multicade rpg, or something of the sort. At first glance, the game would seem almost perfect. Elements of various Final Fantasy games meets various elements of Disney. What more could you ask for? And certainly the pro's out weigh the con's. However, the few flaws that are in this game are not minor flaws, but glaring. For starters, the camera angle plainly sucks! When I play a 3d game, the camera should rotate around smoothly, without any problems. But in this game, it's very sloppy. Because of this, it is hard to line up your characters to make jumps that would otherwise be easy. Another problem I had was with the attack methods. Sometimes it's hard to tell who you're fighting, and whether or not you are close enough to attack. On top of that, it makes no sense to limit how many potions a person can carry, yet stock them up in a bag. You should be able to access your bag at any time. Finally, the gummi ship was a drag. It had potential, it certainly did, but in the end it served no benefit to the gaming experience. Aside from these few points, though, the animation, voice acting, storyline, and overall gameplay is wonderful. Too bad they haven't made an animated series based on this game.

Edit: One thing I wanted to add to explain why I gave the overall game high praise, in spite of the flaws. There are secrets and side quests galore, many of which will take up a good portion of time or allow for many repeat visits to areas you've already explored. Most of these secrets and side quests are enjoyable and enhance the experience. And when you do manage to make that nigh impossible jump, or manage to defeat the tough-as-nails boss, or locate the special treasures (like dalmations, missing pages, trininities, etc) and open up new areas of exploration, you really do feel a sense of accomplishment unlike a lot of other simpler rpgs, especially if done without a walkthrough or cheats. All of this, combined with a rather dark and mature story, really make the game a worthy experience.

Summary: Neverending Story Meets Disney and Final Fantasy
Comment: I haven't gone too deep into the story yet, but it's sort of like the movies Never Ending Story meets the Disney and Final Fantasy universes. A dark force is gobbling up worlds and you are given the task of stopping it. I think it's geared more towards the younger crowd in its graphics and mechanics. Each area is like walking through a ride at Disneyland. They are actually fairly small areas, but it is tough to figure out without a walk through where you are supposed to go or what you are supposed to do.

The controls can be aggravating, particularly when trying to jump. It seems like your jumps are limited and fall short of where you are trying to get to. If you like the idea of playing Disney Characters in an adventure game, this is for you, however, I think are better role-playing games out there though.
