Comment: I think this is the best reciprocating saw for the money: comfortable, powerful and fast. A good choice for a hobbyist. Get one that comes with a case, like this one does. Cases keep tools and their cords so much more organized than just laying them in a pile.
If you plan on using it where power is not readily available, then get a cordless model. I thought about this a lot because I love my cordless drill, even in the shop. But I decided that if I could only have one of any tool, then it should be a corded model. That was my logic when I bought it, but I am still thinking it would be more useful if it was more portable (battery-powered).
