Customer Rating: Summary: Fresh Java Comment: An excellent product and operating design. Took one star away because if one adds a bit too much water it comes out the back.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works very well Comment: I bought this coffee maker for my aunt who does not liek to buy things on the Internet.
I'm not a coffee drinker so these are her comments.
She likes this but really would like a see through carafe instead of stainless steel.
She likes the way it works and makes coffee and she thinks the coffee is plenty hot enough. She doesn't like how it's hard to see how much water is in it to make coffee with.
The line is hard for her to see, she's in her 80's. I'm considerably younger and it is a bit hard to see. Other than that she likes it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product - Fix for slow water level indicator Comment: Now having owned the EC-BD15 for about 3 years, it still rates as my favorite. Never had any failure, and love that the carafe that doesn't burn coffee like makers with heated pads. I have no issue getting standard filters in place for use.
The one quibble: over time the water level indicator on the side starts to get slow to respond when pouring in water: the small red ball float drifts very slowly up to show the water flow, making it easy to overfill beyond your desired level unless you pour the water in very slowly. The cause of this issue: a tiny hole inside the water reservoir allows water to pass from the reservoir to the tube that holds the level indicator float ball. That tiny hole can get nearly blocked by even a small spec of accumulated water impurity or scaling, so the level indicator tube does not fill as quickly as it should as water is poured in.
My solution: attached a small dental right-angle "brush pick" at the end of a chopstick. Once every 3 or 4 months, use this homemade tool to clean out the level indicator tube water pass-through hole inside the reservoir, so the level indicator works like new.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great til it breaks! Comment: Bought this coffeemaker based on having great review and thermal carafe. Have loved it up til yesterday when it completely stopped working. I pushed the on button and the light came on but the coffee did not brew, nor did it make any sound. Yes, there was water in the reservoir etc.
Called the manufacturer and will send it in for repair. Honestly, this is only six months old. Would not recommend buying it.
Customer Rating: Summary: disappointed Comment: The coffeemaker was defective, BUT, even if it hadn't been, I was totally unimpressed with the quality. I'm not sure where they get off charging so much for this thing...it's actually not even as well made as a Proctor-Silex or other more popular, less expensive brand.
