The one I got was HUGE. Not just 30" long, but a good 5"+ in diameter. It gives one many options for how fast and heavy the "rain" falls. With a "light shower" one can rain for a very long time - else one can dump it all at once for a "deluge," although this powerful sound is not particularly rain-like. There's an entire range of sounds and durations in between. If you're looking for an impressive and useful rainstick, this is THE ONE to buy.
