Customer Rating: Summary: Pleased with my selection Comment: I had this product for 11 years and I decided to get another one as the old one was getting a bit cosmetically unattractive. I am using the new unit and it is working like a champ. Please be aware that the unit is actually one gallon humidifier. However it is capable of humidifying 2 1/2 gallons a day if you fill the tank 2 or three times a day.
Customer Rating: Summary: same product as honeywell humidifier hwm-910 but $5 cheaper Comment: We have tried all kinds of humidifiers - ultrasonic, blowers, etc. Tried higher priced honeywell model (Honeywell HWM450 Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier) - which works fine, but is noisy steamy noise.
We originally bought the Honeywell HWM-910 through Target around 2003 and liked it so much and went and bought two more. My wife threw out several of them when I didn't clean out the heating unit (even though I could of cleaned it and kept on using it. I had left them sitting in garage over the summer and looked like trash to her). Next spring, I'll clean them out and put them in nice storage box!
Found having two of them in the bedroom at low setting was perfect - got the volume of humidity and didn't have to refill them at night...lasts I think at least 12 hours at the low setting.
I have been spending quite a bit of time researching the different humidifiers available.
The Duracraft DWM250 is the same product as the Honeywell HWM-910 but is about $5 less and through Amazon comes with free shipping if you buy over $25. The cheapest Honeywell HWM-910 is $36.50 (with shipping factored in) when you buy from Amazon affiliate. Given it's the same product and manufacturer and just a different marketing brand logo of Duracraft instead of Honeywell, I choose the Duracraft model (saving over $11.50 per order). I just bought 3 more of the Duracraft humidifiers and I expect them to last for years. We live in semi-arid environment and in the winter the humidity is very low.
We'll plan on turning down the heat to rest of the house and use these to keep us warm and comfortable humidity level while sleeping.
I checked wikipedia and it talks about Honeywell brand and Kaz company and Duracraft which are just marketing brands of the same product.
If anyone finds a better combination of value and performance, I'll consider another brand/model in future, but for now I think the time I spent into researching is paying off. Just wanted to stop getting products that go to the landfill much too quickly and get some value.
You can always buy extra water tanks and pre-fill them and leave them in room if you want to replace the water at night but not bother to refill (if you use only one humidifier at high setting). It is $15.99 ($19.94 with shipping, so probably makes sense to just buy another humidifier at less than $25)

Notice that this water tank can be used with both Duracraft DWM250 and Honeywell HWM-910.
Customer Rating: Summary: A little marvel of engineering Comment: This is not your mother's humidifier. Of course if, as a child, you enjoyed melting wax crayons in a noisy jet of superheated steam, you will be disappointed.
The air is dry here, and my wife and I would frequently awaken with dry, sore throats and sinus headaches. We decided to experiment with humidifying our bedroom. After researching the pros & cons of warm mist units vs cool mist units we decided on warm mist. We also factored in how much money we were willing to risk on this experiment (about twenty-five bucks).
I wish I could say that we have never had another sore throat or sinus headache since using this unit, but we are definitely more comfortable.
I am totally enamored of the thought and engineering that went into the creation of this inexpensive and helpful device. The only thing I am disappointed in is the listing of the unit as "2-1/2 Gallon". I think it is misleading. I think most consumers would assume that this refers to the reservoir capacity, which is actually 2-1/2 QUARTS (yes, I measured). All I can do is speculate on why this is labeled as it is. Nevertheless, on the "Low" setting it goes all night without needing refilling, with plenty left over. I haven't needed to run it all night on "High" so I can't offer any comments on run-time in that setting. If you fill the heating chamber tray before you set the reservoir in place, you can get more operating time out of the unit.
This unit is pretty quiet - the sound of a little water boiling, and an occasional burble as water from the reservoir recharges the heating chamber. We are completely satisfied with this unit.
Customer Rating: Summary: poorly engineered and deceptively advertised Comment: The description of this thing as a 2 1/2 gallon unit is nonsense. The tank will hold perhaps 1 1/2 quarts. The figure stated, 2 1/2 gallons, comes from the potential of adding 2 1/2 gallons of moisture per day to a room. Sure, if you fill it up five times in the course of a day! I ordered two, and discovered the deception when they arrived (one cannot tell from the fraudulent description). I sent it back and insisted that the mfg pay for shipping, else I would charge back on the CC. Moreover, the unit puts out very little moisture even on the high setting. Duracraft made better units 15 years ago. These are less than junk.
Customer Rating: Summary: eh, decent... Comment: Well i dediced to buy a humidifier after years of getting bloddy noses from the dryness in the winter, so far i haven't gotten any (that could also be because iv'e been breathing out my nose more and not in because of the moisture from your lungs). i also bought a humidity monitory thingy, and it seems that this humidifier can only increase the humidity just a little 5%-10% at most.
But what i love is the little medicine cup on top, i bought some oils and put them in there, and wow. it smells great.
