Grown in the heartland of California's Sacramento Valley Vibrant fantastic Manzanillo and Mission Olives. The Bariani Family brought with them from Italy the love and art of extracting the oil of these olives. This oil is to be enjoyed in or on your favorite dish, drizzled atop a salad or dipped. Vibrant peppery flavor with a golden green hue. This oil is unfiltered and the olive taste shines bright.

Customer Rating: Summary: Might not be to your liking Comment: After reading alot of favorable reviews here on Amazon, I decided to buy some early harvest Bariani from Fall 08.
Overall, I was very turned off by the taste of this olive oil. I've tried quite a few olive oils (from low to high end) in my time and I've grown to like oils with a light grassy flavor with a bit of peppery punch. Perhaps it was due to the fact that Bariani uses unripe olives to make their oils but I found this one to be overly bitter. And it wasn't something that was subtle, I actually cringed a little bit on my first tasting. I will look elsewhere for my next bottle of olive oil.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best Olive Oil Ever! Comment: I get this at the Sacramento Farmer's Markets, but my dad moved to Colorado and really missed the California Olive Oils. I sent him a bottle of this oil and he was in heaven! It has a strong taste of olives, cloudy, and even olive 'dust' on the bottom - To me, this is a sign of quality you can NEVER get at a grocery store! This oil is best for pesto, dipping bread, and fresher meals--as the taste diminishes with cooking. As a 'foodie', I have never found a better oil! Thank you!
Customer Rating: Summary: BEST TASTING OLIVE OIL ON THE PLANET Comment: WAS SKEPTICAL AT FIRST...BUT ''WOW'' THIS IS THE TOP OF THE LINE......THEY DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS....
Customer Rating: Summary: The most amazing olive oil ever! Comment: I actually buy a huge bottle of this olive oil every so or often from the Italian grandmother (a Bariani, I presume) who sells it every Saturday at the Berkeley Farmers' Market. Definitely the most expensive olive oil I have ever bought but also hands down, the very best I had!
Customer Rating: Summary: overly bitter Comment: Earthy? Buttery? Fruity? Peppery? Grassy?
If you're looking for something other than bitter, you might want to keep looking. I found this olive oil to be overwhelmingly acrid and bitter: a real disappointment.
I understand that the taste profile of good, unadulterated olive oil might include slight bitterness, but with this oil (at least the fall 2008 bottling) bitterness was the only note.
