Customer Rating: Summary: Good Kit, bad mat Comment: I bought this kit to do yoga at home, since I've been with an instructor for a while. I wanted something with blocks and strap for modifications, plus a mat to keep at home. This kit looked like everything I wanted in one go.
The blocks are nice, great size and texture, the strap is basic but nice, heavy duty. The only problem is the mat itself.
The mat is smelly, which will probably wear off with use, and it's a bit narrow. But the worst part is that it's not sticky. It's SLIPPERY. Imagine my surprise when I moved into downward-dog pose and almost fell flat on my face because I couldn't get my hands or feet to stop slipping!! I ended up throwing the mat to the side and finishing my practice without it.
Now I have to run to the store and buy a $15 Gaiam mat. I would never recommend this brand of mat. Stick to Gaiam.
Customer Rating: Summary: Enough for my demand Comment: If your demand is similar to mine, I think this is a good choice.
I do not yoga every day, perhaps once a week. But I guess the mat will be fine if you use it every day.
At the beginning it has a wird smell, I know it's some chemical smell, not good for human body. But after I put it outside for several days, it's fine now.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good product, so far. Comment: This is my first yoga mat and I thought having the blocks and the strap for this price should be a good purchase, and it was. I re-started yoga again, and I used a towel and a belt for the poses which did not help my back.
I read most of the other reviews and this is my take:
1. The product arrived a day early so that was a big yay!
2. The smell of the mat is not as bad as reported in other reviews. I didn't even have to air it before using it so I used it right away. Then again, I'm a vet and I'm used to REALLY STRONG smells and this did not bothered me at all. I guess this depends on the person.
3. The blocks are light and strong, and with the mat and the strap, all them fits inside the totem bag, plus other personal stuff like a small towel, wallet, etc.
4. I do not like purple, but it the color didn't annoy me. I guess that's good.
5. The mat does feels comfy under the fit, it does not "glues" to the floor but I did not slip once.
6. Maybe I need a thicker mat since my back problem, maybe the product needs be more clear in the thickness like how many cms, etc. Maybe if its thicker then It may not be that sticky.
I think that eventually I may get another but thicker mat in the future, but who knows, I may not need it as I advance in yoga if my body gets better, etc.
Oh and something else, the first time I used it, I was doing some floor pose, and my cat thought it was a nice "new" place to scratch her nails...grr lol
Customer Rating: Summary: Of course it's not top quality, but it's a good bang for your buck. Comment: I would totally recommend this to anyone just getting started with yoga. I'm sorry, but mats, blocks, straps, etc are pricey. And this is a really good deal, getting everything for such an inexpensive price.
If you find that yoga's for you, you would probably want to upgrade, especially as your usage increases, but I can't say enough what a good deal I think this is. The cheapest mat I found was $20, so I really think it's worth the extra $6 to get a bag, blocks, and strap too.
I noticed some of the comments said the bag is flimsy. Well, no it's not top strength nylon or anything, but how sturdy do you need a bag that's carrying 3 lbs to be?
I guess what I would take from all of this, is that if you're a yoga guru or someone who has money to blow-go get a nicer, pricier set. If not, this is the perfect set for you.
Customer Rating: Summary: Yoga For Beginners Comment: This is a good product for beginners. I just recently purchased this, along with some Namaste Dvds. The only thing I dont like is the mat could be way thicker. The dvds I purchased dont use the blocks or the belt. But all in all its a good product for the little price.
