About Swiss Army Knives
In 1884, Swiss cutler Karl Elsener set up shop in Ibach-Schwyz, installing a waterwheel in Tobelbach Brook to run his grinding and polishing machines. Thus began what would become the international brand name Victorinox, a combination of Victoria, for Elsener's mother, and "inox," or stainless steel. Today, Victorinox produces watches, luggage, clothing, and, famously, Swiss Army Knives. The original product dates to 1897, when Elsener patented the Swiss Officer's and Sports Knife he supplied to the Swiss Army. Following World War II, American servicemen and women shopping in PX stores shortened the name to Swiss Army Knife, which lives on in English-speaking countries around the world and has become a metaphor for versatility.

Comment: i bought this product for $28.00 or so,this is the best model of the Victornox line to use,it has been the most important knife in my life due to it's many uses...once while camping in Georgia on a lake in January,the wind was about 20 mph,temp was 25 degrees or so,when my storm flap on my tent tore,thinking quickly,I realized that my knife had a blade that was an awl with a hole in it,which allowed me to take nylon line and do a field patch on the tear quickly,which I needed to do in the bitter cold,wet wind.I also looked online and found one just like this for $120.00 or so.They sell usually for around $80.00 or so...this is why I use Amazon for all my needs,I check there first !I figured I saved around $50.00---what a deal huh ?

Comment: This is my second Swiss army knife, the first one was stolen with my car:( I guess that's the only chance the knife couldn't work for you. It's very reliable, convenient, especially for people who know how to use appropriate tools in different situations.

Comment: I bought this exact model back in 1973 while stationed at Hahn AB, Germany. It was my daily use knife, and it was used (and abused) quite a bit, for 29 years until it quite literally fell apart. While I now carry a Leatherman Wave, I will be purchasing this one for daily carry when my finances allow.

Comment: This knife has almost all you need; there is only one Victorinox model with more tools than this which has a pliers included. Very easy to use. Manual needs to be downloaded from the Victorinox website.

Comment: I love how great this product is. With all the tools, it fits in your pocket without that heavy bulge. The tools are very reliable and handy, gets me going on most of the occasion and I love that I don't have to get my tools back for small stuff. I selected 2 day free shipping and Amazon sent me pretty fast within a day. I would highly recommend buying this from Amazon.
