MUCH more sturdy than the one it replaced, which probably cost more...and was always falling down on my work. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating was that the lamp (bulb/tube) was dead when it arrived. I had an extra laying around, so it was no big deal. Works fine now. Customer Rating: Summary: Magnifying the issue Comment: This magnifying lamp was a gift. It arrived in a decent interval of time after the order was placed. Unfortunately, the display box was placed inside a shipping carton without benefit of any material to cushion the product resulting in the fluorescent bulb being broken. A replacement was not so easy to find due to the specific color of the original bulb (which is one reason this model was choosen). Although the retailer would not refund the cost of the replacement bulb, they did refund the cost of the shipping and were prompt and communicative during the post purchase negotiations. I would purchase from this vendor again but probably not items that are breakable. Customer Rating: Summary: Nice unit, needs a few improvements... Comment: My order just arrived and I like the Build quality, it seams very solid unlike some higher priced units I have played with... My only complaints are: I would have liked a higher magnification... The specs on the page say 3x but I think it's 3 Diopters (1.75x) The lamp is 22 watts but seams overly dim... Customer Rating: Summary: Decent lamp magnifier Comment: The lamp magnifier came in a timely fashion. Some of the other reviewers were correct in saying not much of an instruction guide comes with this lamp. Also I found that the lens had quite a bit of a viscous oil like material on the lens. Which they say can be cleaned with a lens cleaning solution. I tried to get it clean with the solution(not included) but was unable to get it to what I consider to be clean and clear. Other than that my dad is happy with it. It helps him see the fine print and helps him with viewing maps and other things. The flourecent lamp does illuminate the area quite well and is not harsh on the eyes. If your going to purchase this item I suggest calling the seller and asking about the lens and better cleaning suggestions. Great price for the whole thing.
