Summary: It Works Great for Me
Comment: The most important measure of a product is whether it works or not and this product works. However, there are some caveats. The pads are expensive. I have discovered they are not conductive pads, they are attenuation pads. Therefore you may be able to find something else that works to reduce the shock. Without the pads this thing will shock enough to bring back the dead. The next caveat is that the product has to hear the user snoring before it can react. Logical, right? That means the user can still wake up the person next to them in the bed with a short snoring burst or several short burst over a few minutes. However they are short bursts. The shock does work. The product does work. It's not that uncomfortable. I keep thinking, "Why do I have my watch on" and then I remember. I like the eight hour time limit which extends the battery life. A previous reviewer is incorrect...when the device "fires" the green light blinks rapidly. Possibly her husband's arm is not in a position for her to view it. I also like the test button which helps me position the device. A suggestion: The underside of the arm is more sensitive so may work better. However it may also end up facing down which would hurt the reception. Your mileage may vary.

I have used it for six months and I am snoring less. I can still drive my wife out of the room. Maybe the device is under the covers at the time. I don't know.

The pads last a few weeks but as I indicated you can try other items. I've been using mine without the pads with the dial turned all the way down.

I have to go...one of my golden retrievers is snoring.

Summary: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME
Comment: I was looking for a device such as the Snore Stopper because I was desperate to resolve my embarrassing snoring problem. I had decided to tape record myself as I sleep with a VOX to find out the extent of the problem. Well, I was shocked to hear myself making the most god-awful sounds, including grunts, snorts, and toots. I had to put a stop to it. This device was the best I could find on the net. However, I read the reviews and you can see they are mostly unfavorable. I was hoping I would get a good one in spite of the bad reviews. I was hoping the reviews were skewed because mostly disappointed customers might be giving the reviews. So I went ahead and purchased one.
The first two days it worked perfectly. I had it on the lowest setting. My tape recorder witnessed almost no snoring. And I was elated. But, sadly, it would not work correctly after that. I was very careful with the electrodes, but over the days ahead when I woke up I would find them not in their right place, or were rolled up/bunched up. I had always put it on carefully and snuggly. (I have to say the electrodes are nasty looking and feel nasty too!) Why couldn't they design the unit so that you would not need to utilize them, like those dog collars that zap dogs when they are not doing the right thing?
Anyway, the Snore Stopper did not do its job as evidenced by the tape recorder, so I increased the strength of the zapping. Over the next several nights it either would not zap at all, or it would randomly zap me for no reason. (You see, it would wake me up, and suspecting something wasn't right, I listened to the tape recorder to see if I had snored, and I hadn't.) It kept waking me up the last two nights I wore it so I had had enough.
This product is a complete failure. Don't waste your time and money.
But I will say that just using the tape has proven to be helpful in training myself to not snore. Sixteen years ago I had successfully trained myself in a couple of weeks. I don't know how long it lasted because I did not follow up on it after a few months of monitoring. These last few months I did not have the great success I had before and I suspect it's due to gaining about 20 lbs. Now I am working on reducing my weight and suggesting to myself that I do not snore, backed up with the use of the VOX tape recorder. So far the snoring has gotten better by cutting it down to half some nights; 2/3 other nights, and to just a few minutes still other nights. If I succeed in stopping the snoring entirely I will let you know.

Summary: Does not work
Comment: My husband keeps track of my snoring, so I purchased the Snore Stopper in hopes he would get a good night's sleep. The first time I used it he said it did not completely stop my snoring. Subsequent nights were even less effective. After 4 weeks, we gave up as there was no improvement. At no time - during sleep - was I aware of the electric 'zap', even tho it tested strongly. So, either it never worked (and the first night's partial relief was pychological) or it rapidly lost it's ability to disturb my sleep enough to cause me to change positions. I absolutely do not recommend this product. I feel it was a complete waste of money...but if you really want one, I'll be glad to sell you mine at half price.

Summary: Maybe it works
Comment: HealthCare Snore Stopper
This is exactly the same as the higher priced Snore Stopper, which is what I bought first.
According to my wife, it really worked well for a while - - much less snoring on my part.
But then the device stopped working properly, shocking me randomly when I was making no noise.
So I bought this less expensive version, and again it worked for awhile before becoming random.
THEN I replaced the battery even though the device did not indicate it needed replacing and then the device began to work properly again.
So 1) Do not loose the tiny phillips screwdriver that is needed to change the battery! I terribly irritating design flaw.
2) Change batteries the first time you notice it shocking you without cause (random shocks).
3) I'm still not 100% certain it works for stopping my snoring, but it's well worth a try. You can adjust the shock intensity to the level you want - - it doesn't have to fully wake you up. Or it can if you want!

Summary: Seems good except it stopped working
Comment: First, I disagree with those who say this will kill you. And I DID go to a doctor; I even had a sleep study done, and they couldn't seem to think of anything to help me. People with apnea can definitely benefit from a trip to the doctor, but apparently I don't have that, yet I still snore very loudly. The doctor said I could try expensive and very painful surgery that might or might not help. He had no other suggestions.

So I tried the Snore Stopper and it seemed to help for the first couple nights. Since then, I have not been able to get it to work. It turns on, but the electrodes don't seem to be working. I tried changing them and also changing the battery, to no avail. Unfortunately I didn't get around to trying it soon enough, and now it's too late to return it. I think this could be a good product if it were more durable--too bad.
