Customer Rating: Summary: 3600 miles/2 weeks/Never opened a map! Comment: Yowza All,
Did my homework/research and bought the Garmin Nuvi350. Just used "getting started" instructions never bothered to download as the use of unit is very intuitive.
Received unit the day before leaving on a 2 week vacation that covered 3600 miles.
Unit never faltered. Amazingly the only "wrong" directions were to a Dunkin Donuts that had moved out and now was inhabited by another doughnut shop, no big deal.
Miss a turn, unit reconfigures route and arrival time. The information available at your fingertips is staggering.
Touch screen easy to use. Volume of unit could be a little louder especially if music is loud. I'm debating patching in to the audio of the vehicle.
Never bothered mounting to windshield as I liked it by the center console.
Would've ordered the "big chip" memory upgrade but Amazon's delivery time mdidn't fit my schedule. I recommend it but I never got to the point of needing it, I just want to have it "in case'.
The "only" flaw I noticed was the inability to remove "places" that have been selected from the "Recent". I can delete all of them but not selectively, too bad. This becomes an issue when on the road and you pull up a variety of selections in say, restaurants. You compare routes of the ones you select but only choose one and then the rest still are on the "Recent".
Best money I've spent in a long time, very rarely have a value been this good.
Vacation started from our house in Connecticut to New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan. Covered 3600 miles and never got lost and never had to refold a map. The wife feels this will save marriages for those who use their spouse as a co-pilot.

Customer Rating: Summary: Great GPS Comment: It is my first time to purchase a GPS. I chose this one based on the review of this item. It works good, fast searching satellite, clear pronunciations. The only thing I need to mention is the map on this GPS is only 2008, but you can go to garmin website to download new 2009 Map by using the serial NO. it is a huge file about 2 GB. it took me one hour to down load and another to update it. Great GPS, works great so far. Owned for one month.
Customer Rating: Summary: Garmin 350 Comment: We have found the Garmin 350 extremely helpful trying to get to places that we do not know how to get to. It is a very accurate and precise tool to use when on the raid.
Customer Rating: Summary: I can't get lost Comment: This is the best purchase I've made in a long time. The Garmin has given me directions that cut my usual drive time in half in some cases and I drive with a newfound confidence.
Customer Rating: Summary: ACQUIRING SATELLITE Comment: First of all, I received this order pretty quickly from Amazon, so kudos to them.
But using the Garmin 350 for a week now, I must say it is quite easy and effective to use... that is, WHEN it starts to work. As with any GPS device, it has to acquire a satellite connection before you start using it. If you're like me and you live in a condo with a basement parking, obviously, you would have to get out of the parking level, get away from your tall buildings, before you can get a satellite signal.
Aside from the initial boot time, which is also quite long, the time it takes to acquire a satellite signal is about 6-8 minutes. So that's a lot of thumb twiddling for you before the Garmin decides to get to work.
So if you're in a hurry... well with this GPS unit, you're going to be late. Better leave 6-8 minutes ahead of time and find an area practically devoid of any structures. Oh and it wants you to wait in the middle of the street while you wait too, otherwise it won't even begin to start working. Be prepared for a lot of people flipping you the bird for holding up traffic.
One last thing, the suction/stand accessory that comes with it is totally useless.
