Customer Rating: Summary: precise and concise Comment: I am a beginner in TAI CHI, after around 10 lessons taken long time ago. I use this DVD to pracise every day. It is a well done, well thought out presentation, teaching one element after another. It presents first the front view, repeats it, then the rear view, then adds the breath. The poses are presented with quiet and pleasant music which is helpful for me. You can also watch the history of TAI CHI, look at the static poses or watch the section about martial arts applications.
For me it is a high quality training material. The only thing I cannot do with it is to pracise when I am with my back to the TV...If you buy 4 TV sets, though, and place them around the room, you are all set.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tai chi Chuan cd and book Comment: I have taken a few tai chi classes and found it difficult to be able to make the classes each week. So my teacher suggested I get this cd and the book in order to continue learning tai chi. I find it helpful and easy to follow. The price was reasonable, less than the cost of one lesson at the work out center.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't have a Tai Chi Instructor? Get this DVD Comment: My Tai Chi Instructor recommended this DVD. It is a GREAT practice aide for keeping up with class.
Customer Rating: Summary: Yang 24 form w/Combative Applications Comment: This video is awesome. Worth every penny.
The entire 24 form is run completely through 2 times at different angles, 1 more time to showing breathing specifics while doing the entire form. Then some martial applications are covered. Finally, the individual movements are covered one by one. The approach is logical... follow the person on your tv through the form 3 times fully, then show each movement with at least one real live defense application, then focus on each movement by itself(solo).
If you've watched enough of these internal martial art videos, you might wonder what you are missing. For example... I am positive there are many martial applications in this video that are 'left out'.
I think in a similar way about the Rainbow Fan routine. Nice routine... though I keep looking at this one movement and wonder what was changed about the movement... something is missing... but I just can't see it.
Just musings. Don't pay much attention to them. Bottom line is that the video is very good. As good as any "One Size Fits All" could be.
Customer Rating: Summary: Exceptional!! Meets and exceeds expectatons! Comment: Exceptional! the instruction... camera angles offered, still photo slide show... (okay, I did not like the music. But hey, it's a Tai Chi DVD, the music comes with the genre.) I cannot focus my mind on one aspect of this production that out shines any other.
This DVD is for eveyone interested in Tai Chi, at any level. But, most especially, for those interested in Tai Chi with martial arts applications.
The DVD is exceptionally well made and easy to use. It offers a still photo slide show for beginners looking to perform the moves properly. The Tai Chi 24 postures are well demonstrated and easily identified as "real world martial arts applications". If, as a beginner, you don't feel you have quite grasped the posture, as a martial application. There is a section for that. Aren't quite getting the motion from one camera angle? Try another.
If you are looking for a well taught Tai Chi DVD, with or without martial arts applications, this one will satisfy your needs
