In 1996 an arcade legend was born with the release of Metal Slug: Super Vehicle 001. The military-style themes, and a side-scrolling platform mixed with a wacky sense of humor and hilarious cartoon style, proved extremely popular to a decidedly wide audience. Based on this success, seven more Metal Slug sequels would be developed and released. Ten years later, The Metal Slug game play and popularity are still going strong. To celebrate, the creators of the Metal Slug Anthology stopped at nothing to provide a 2D, side scrolling compilation for the PSP that is perfectly compatible with all the great game play possibilities that the PSP has to offer.

Comment: The game was really fun. The loading part is annoying, but I guess thats what you get for a direct port. Plays just like the arcade game (slowness when too many enemies on the screen, etc).

Comment: Metal Slug Anthology is a perfect game for the PSP. There are 6 ports of the metal slug side-scrolling shooter arcade games in this package (Metal Slug 2 and X are the same thing with only slight differences. If you count X there are 7 games). Every game in this collection is fun and fast paced. The levels and games are of decent sizes making it perfect for the portable system. I have had this game for over a year and I still continue to play it over and over.

The gameplay is simplistic - just run and shoot everything and everyone that gets in your way. There's no complex backstory to follow, but with games like this, there's no need: just choose your character and let the shooting begin!
