Comment: Although I don't work as one, I graduated as a chef and I have a really good knife set, but it's already 9 yrs old. I used the diamond fingers on them and they are like new!!! I am buying a few to give as gifts- having sharp knifes makes prepping (mise-en-place) so much faster and easier. They improved some, but not to a honed edge. Perhaps I was expecting too much. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I was never too handy with a honing rod and this handy pocket-sized device takes out all the guess-work. Simple, easy to use, and maintains a brilliant edge between sharpenings. I was even able to provide a demonstration slicing a soft tomato! So far so good - I'd recommend this for every kitchen. Outlook for long-term use also looks good, this is a quality device.
