Diva Cup Model 1 is for Pre-Childbirth and/or Under 30 Years of Age. The DivaCup is approved by the FDA (USA) and Health Canada. It is made of soft medical grade silicone, which is latex-free, 100% hypoallergenic and odorless. For over 50 years, silicone has been safely and extensively used in products for the health care industry. The DivaCup is a modern version of this proven concept that has been redesigned with the latest technology in moulding and materials. Since The DivaCup is reusable, it is very economical. As well, you can feel confident that you are doing your part in environmental conservation. Landfill and pollution problems are on the rise and continue to be a worldwide concern.

Summary: I will never go back again!!!!!
Comment: I love using this cup!!! It is a little long and takes some getting used to but once you know what your doing it is so much better then pads or tampons. I will never go back after using this. If you go do [...] you can find videos on different types of cups and how to use them. The lady there is so helpful and I thank her for helping me. I did get my cup for $21.20 total on [...] and you can to if you use the code PAY111 at check out. It gives you $5 off and the shipping is only $1.50. I ordered mine on Friday and got it on Tuesday. I love using a cup and if you do research you will too. Don't get discouraged if you don't get it right off the bat either. Just keep trying and you will love them too. Also like the other lady said they are not one size fits all but with this cup you can turn it inside out if it's to long for you. I hope I helped!!!

Summary: Money saver
Comment: I was very skeptical about trying the DivaCup. I had read about it in Glamour magazine, and although many women seemed to love it, it seemed like a terrible concept! I read over some of the reviews on Amazon and figured I'd give it a shot. If I liked it, I'd save hundreds of dollars and the environment! I have been using tampons for over 8 years now, and I was always scared of TSS, even though it is not as common now. With the diva cup, I do not need to be worried about toxic shock. The cup is small and comfortable. It took me a few tries, but I finally figured out which way to fold it that suited me best (pushing the rim down toward the center inside of the cup). Once inside, the cup is a little uncomfortable, but just until it settles. I can go all day at work while wearing the cup! I did not experience any leakage, until I the last day of my period...the cup caught all of the thin blood, but somehow passed the thicker discharge. This was not a huge problem, as I just used the thinnest panty liner for only a few hours. I was also a little weary about removal. A few women mentioned that they felt as if their insides were being ripped out while removing, but I experienced no such thing. It is a little difficult to remove; it is not a quick process like removing a tampon (takes me about 20-30 seconds to remove the cup). It involved using your kegel muscles and pushing the cup down while pulling on the "stem". Once the suction releases, it can easily be removed. Overall, I am very pleased with the DivaCup! I would recommend this product to anyone who no longer wants to spend 10 dollars for a box of tampons every time they have their period. I am so glad I never have to hunt for a quarter to find a tampon in public bathrooms again! The DivaCup is great!

Summary: diva cup rocks!
Comment: i highly recommend this for anyone who is considering purchasing the diva cup. i have heard there are many other cups to choose from on the market, and i have not tried them, but the diva cup is a wonderful alternative to all of the disposable products out there on the market. not to mention, it is so much better for your body, as tampons are made out of rayon and soaked in bleach. these are NOT good things to put inside your body. the diva cup is also much more convenient and economical. you can forget about those emergency trips to the store, or the uh oh.... my tampon is leaking and i just used my last one! all in all, i would say the biggest hurdle is learning how to use it correctly. however, there is a fantastic online blog(on livejournal) that answers endless questions about anything you would need to know, and they can help you use it correctly.

Summary: Fantastic Investment; Tip for Cleaning
Comment: So although it is the best thing in the world for women as many others have already mentioned, due to cost, convenience, comfort and lack of waste, the Diva Cup also comes with a fairly steep learning curve. You will pinch, scratch, and terrify yourself when first using it, but over time, you will be comfortable putting it in and out, perhaps even without lube. Personally, I have never used it, though I could see how it would lessen discomfort and make it MUCH more comfortable for a beginner. My cup had one or two holes that were not fully punched through by the mold, and I haven't experimented with punching them all the way through, although a friend said that's what she had to do. I imagine this would also make it more comfortable to use.

At first, I used the "origami" folding method, but I found that I had trouble getting it to open once inserted. Now I use the "U-shape" method as described in the directions, even though many people seem to think it is inferior. It is less comfortable on the initial insert, but I like it because by moving the cup up and down a couple times, it pops open without a problem and rotates easily to assure a tight seal.

So, the directions specifically state that you need to wash the cup at least every 12 hours. Because it is so comfortable and you needn't worry about wearing specific clothes (or any clothes, really) during your period, you may forget, as I have, that it's even happening. This may lead you to forget to clean the cup for more than 12 hours. DON'T EVER DO THIS. I don't want to be grosser than a person writing a menstrual cup review needs to be, but trust me, it is NOT something you want to experience. It will neither be easily cleaned from the cup nor your memory.

That brings me to my final point, which I have just discovered. Some people may notice that the cup gets discolored over time and staining occurs along its rim, which is difficult to clean. Because it's already recommended that you sterilize the cup by boiling it in water monthly, I've found that you can save time and clean the cup even more thoroughly by adding a little hydrogen peroxide to the boil. H2O2 is a disinfectant and a bleaching agent, so it does a great job cleaning stains. It naturally degrades into pure water and oxygen (a process which is hastened by heating it to boiling), and because it's a common substance in nature, we have many enzymes to degrade it in our own bodies. In short, it leaves little to no residue, so with a simple rinse, you should have no concern about subjecting your body to unnecessary chemicals, while the cup will look like new.

Summary: don't trust recommended size
Comment: I purchased my Diva Cup several months ago, I get it in and out no problem and no mess. (The trick to avoiding that feeling like your pulling your insides out is to pull the cup out at an angle, releasing the suction before trying to pull the whole thing out.)

However, I seem to be leaking...I've been using it with a pad as I have spotting issues as if I had a full tampon even though the cup is far from full. I don't mind terribly because I can go the whole day with one pad and the diva cup but I'd prefer if it would work as advertised. Someone told me it might just be too small and even though I haven't had any kids I might need the second size. Which makes sense because I would use the Super Plus tampons.

However I do like not worrying about remembering to pack tampons and not having to change every hour. So I'm going to try to see if maybe inserting it a different method might work, if not I'm willing to fork out another 30 bucks and try the size 2. Considering I can easily spend that within 3-4 months on tampons which are horrible for you.
