Summary: Good budget program for a new user.
Comment: I've been very happy with the program. It has many more features than I will use, but it keeps track of the data I want with ease.
I guess the other reviews have used the windows version and don't like the way the mac version works. But it seems great to me. It will track more than I want it to and even interface with my banks online.
I'll update after a year or so of use (maybe then I won't like it?).

Summary: Quicken upgrade
Comment: Forced to upgrade as my last upgrade was not covered. I was not notified by Quicken re the problem when I wanted to access my bank account. After a search I found the problem and the only solution was to upgrade. I wish they had waited until the new upgrade in 2010 as that might have saved me some cash. I am happy with the upgrade and have no complaints re the product. I am unhappy with Quicken, but unless I want to totally change I am stuck with the situation.

Summary: Great for my purposes
Comment: This product works great for me. I had previously used Quicken, but had stopped for a while until recently. As my old version of Quicken was for the PC, I had to update to the Mac version. I did not have any need to transfer information from my PC version, so I cannot review the product in relation to that. However, my experience starting my finance record keeping was simple and satisfying. It has a system that is simple that was easy for me to start using once more. The system is very similar to the previous version of Quicken. I can only imagine that first time users would find no difficulty learning how to use the program effectively. Quicken covers all the finance needs, and has a variety of options. However, I found the online sync challenging. I could not get it to work with two different banking websites. It was not a problem, as I could input my information manually without much difficulty. A person who would depend on the online portion may want to do some more research into your bank's compatability before purchasing this product. Overall, a good program to effectively manage your money. I would recommend this product to users of any skill level.

Summary: Works well on Snow Leopard; no crashes like Windows versions
Comment: I have found this application to work very well on OS X Snow Leopard. Although I am still unable to register (what's up Intuit?), I have not had the program crash on me, something that used to happen all the time running Windows Quicken 2009 through Parallels. By the way, this issue is not a problem with Parallels or Windows according to many discussion boards. Many people complain that the Mac version does not have as many features as the Windows version, but I have found that I never used many of those features. I pay bills, manage my investments, and track values of my assets. What else is there to do with personal financial software? The Mac version still reads QIF files, a highly valuable feature that has been removed from the Windows version. Yes the software needs Rosetta to run and doesn't have the "eye candy" like some of the more modern Mac software apps, but the other Mac financial software packages simply cannot do all that Quicken for Mac can. It's not easy to switch from the Windows to Mac version, but Intuit provides a step by step "how to" on their web site. I followed it and have had no problems. I bought it a really good price from Amazon, and don't ever intend to go back to the Windows version. It got to be a real pain to have to load Windows every time I needed to open Quicken.

Summary: I'm shopping for an alternative
Comment: I utilize Quicken for Windows at my business, and it works just fine. However, the MAC version (which I use at home) has been giving me a hard time. Today I spent two hours inputting data (OK, I was a little behind!), and then the software froze and all the work I did seems to be lost. I want to clarify that this is an uncommon occurrence for my MAC, but it has happened several times specifically with Quicken. It has finally occurred to me that something is wrong with this picture, and I checked the internet to see what experience other users have had. Lo and behold, I realize that I'm not alone.
One other thing that I want to mention is that although I don't remember the specifics, I do remember that it was quite cumbersome to transfer Quicken data from my PC to MAC format. It took a lot of time and online support to bring it about.
At this point, I realize that I need to scrap Quicken altogether and purchase alternative software. Let the research begin!!
