Editorial Reviews:

Powerful and effective, the Toro Ultra 3-in-1 Blower, Vacuum, and Leaf Shredder makes completing yard work fun and easy. With air speeds up to 235 mph, this electric blower nevertheless is lighter, quieter, and cleaner than similar gas blowers. And with a sleek, ergonomical design, it's a tool that is easy to use and will grab your neighbors' attention.

The Toro Ultra 3-in-1 Blower, Vacuum, and Leaf Shredder:
  • Is electric so it is lighter, quieter, and cleaner than similar gas blower.
  • Has a variable speed motor.
  • Features a metal impeller for mulching debris.

Convert from blower to vacuum without tools.

The metal impeller shreds leaves into a mulch.

The impeller can reduce up to 16 bags' worth of waste to one bag.
Match the Power to the Task for Better Results
Tackle big clean-up jobs the right way with this powerful blower vac. A variable speed 12 Amp motor lets you select from an infinite variety of speeds between 112 mph and 235 mph. This means that you can use low speeds to clear off hard surfaces and clean up tight areas without making a mess and without sacrificing the blower's high-speed functionality.

Air Speed and Air Volume to Get Yard Jobs Done
Unlike some manufacturers, who simply reduce the size of their blower nozzles to achieve higher air speed ratings without increasing the practical value of their tools, Toro gives this blower vac the ability to balance between air speed (measured in mph) and air volume (measured in cfm) to ensure maximum power and performance. This Ultra blower vac offers air speeds up to 235 mph and air volume up to 255 cfm, allowing you to move a substantial volume of leaves and debris with ease.

3-in-1 Versatility Makes Managing Tasks Easy
A convenient quick-release latch lets you convert your blower into a vacuum in seconds without any tools, while a metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris.

The magnesium serrated metal blades on the impeller shred leaves and other unwanted debris into a fine mulch that you can use around your lawn and garden, saving money and recycling important nutrients. It also makes it easy to dispose of unwanted yard waste, since the impeller can reduce 16 bags’ worth of leaves to one bag.

Clean and Efficient with Electric Power
Compared with gas blowers, electric blowers are quieter, more eco-friendly, and require less maintenance. They start up instantly without requiring you to master a finicky pull cord. There's no messy gas-oil mixture to worry about, and you don't have to contend with noxious fumes to get a job done.

This high-powered blower also weighs in at a very manageable 7.5 pounds, making it easy on your back.

This blower/vac is backed by a full two-year warranty.

What's in the Box
Power unit, blower tubes, vac tubes, vac bag, and operators manual.

Even a large yard is easy to clean up with this blower.

Summary: Leaves AND SNO
Comment:
STEEL impeller for mulch, be AWARE of OTHER BRANDS, MOST, if not all others have plastic impellers.

I bought mine late November 2009 and just got it.... AND got an ADDITIONAL discount of 10 BUX at checkout that didn't show in the product page.....

There are many assets this blower has that others do not have and it costs far less, then throw in Amazon free shipping, Voila' it is a no brainer....... (just read more reviews)

SNO-SNO-SNO, yes, it works great for blowing SNO too in small area's...... I have a 10'x30 covered breeze way that has a concrete retaining wall on one end and the open end faces the front yard so it is a wind trap for leaves and pine needles as well as SNO....... I use mine to blow off the SNO on the tractor that I use to plow snow via tractor snow blower but it cleans the loaded SNO from the previous storm off the machine. I don't have enough storage for vehicles so I have to leave two out in the weather and this Toro blower makes short order of blowing SNO off you other vehicles besides ground work blowing SNO (sure beats the shovel and it won't blow deep SNO very well unless it is a dry very cold SNO).

Features galore, I like the variable speed switch (rheostat style switch) which gives you very slow speed for starting out in corners, other blowers without a variable speed switch are hard to start blowing corners out with all the force/wind speed at once...... Light weight and easy to handle and women user friendly in performance..... I haven't used the leaf vacuum yet and probable won't till next year now that we have a blanket of SNO that is here for the winter but with the metal impeller I can't see and down fall in Toro's engineering on this product so do not hesitate to buy it if you want the most product for your money...

Summary: zipper and clogging problems
Comment: This thing works ok. BUT:

1) the zipper came off its track the 4th time I opened it. I didn't open it all the way, it just jumped the track for no good reason I can see.
2) It does well with dry leaves. As soon as the leaves get wet or clumpy, fugeddaboutit! I spent more time unclogging it than using it, by far. It seems that even a small amount of clog will stop it dead in its tracks, surprising for something that seems to be pretty powerful.
I would advise not using it on wet leaves at all, too frustrating and time consuming!
3) It is very awkward to use and put together. The bag constantly falls off my shoulder no matter how I adjust it. Worse than that, they give you no place to get a grip on it when changing the blower/vacuum bit. A simple piece of plastic to grip with your other fingers would have made this much better.
4) They claim 16 bags of leaves into one? Hardly. I would estimate 6 bags into one and that is being very generous!
Also, pulling off the bag has become a chore. Again, no good place to grip it, and the funnel sticks so you really have to pull it, but there's nothing to hold onto to pull it against.

It seems to have gotten no ergonomics put into it at all. I would say it's a toss up as to whether it is worth it or not, a real close call.

Summary: Great Power and Suction
Comment: I really like this product, its easy to use and the blowing power is great. The metal impeller makes it easy to mulch debris seeing as I don't have to worry about removing small twigs before sucking up all the leaves. Great price + great product = GREAT LOOKING LAWN!!

Summary: Good Leaf Blower
Comment: So far so good. The product is easy to assemble. I have used the leaf blower function and it works wonderfully. Most of the negative reviews I have read are about the vacuum function. Since I have not tried that, I will hold my rating to a 4 star.

Summary: reliability
Comment: I owned a Toro 51598 and it performed well for 2 seasons. the third season, it burned up and became landfill waste. It did work well, I must say and the bagging was easy.

I own a Stihl chainsaw that is 20 years old and it still operates like a champ, so I purchased a Stihl leafblower this time around as I thought 2 + years was poor reliability.

I didn't realize how much the cord got in the way and the Stihl performed perfectly this Fall. Time will tell if the Stihl will provide legendary reliability.
