Customer Rating: Summary: Good, inexpensive and bright Comment: This little light does exactly what it needs to do.
It's bright, and the clip-on bracket means I can take it off the bike when I park at night and use it like a flashlight (very helpful for finding keys!).
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Light for the $ Spent Comment: This light did exactly what I thought it would do:(1) Give a decent amount of light which can be seen by traffic, and (2) Provide enough light for low speed. This light does not provide enough illumination to be used at higher speeds, 18-22+ mph, which I regularly travel at on my commute to work on my e-bike, but I knew this before buying. I now use this as a 2nd light (blinking), and use a rechargable lithium pack powered light as a primary. Mounting was easy, but I need to put a few layers of electical tape to build up thickness to insure a tight mount.
Customer Rating: Summary: Planet Bike Beamer Comment: Great product. Easy to mount, nice compact size. Very bright. Until recently, I had only used this light on roads with streetlamps, but after Hurricane Ike left us without power all the streets were in darkness; this lamp lit up the way fantastically well when riding at speeds around 15 mph.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another excellent Planet Bike product Comment: This is a great running light (in flashing mode) and an adequate backup light for illumination at night. I would not use it as my main night illumination unless you are on a well lit road. It's just too dim for good visability on a dark road (unless you mount 2 or 3 of them). The mount is perfectly adequate and the price is typically Planet Bike user-friendly. I like it a lot.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not just for bicycles Comment: I am a runner and as part of my route often run on busy streets early in the morning. I wanted a light that drivers of oncoming cars could easily see even if they were wearing sunglasses and even if the sunlight was shining directly on the light, which causes many lights to "wash out" and be barely visible. Not this one. I placed it in direct sunlight and still could easily see it with my sunglasses on.
This is so lightweight that I just carry it in my hand and face it toward oncoming traffic in strobe mode (and when I cross side streets, I briefly turn it in that direction as well). When my route goes back into a park, I just clip the light onto the bracket, which I have looped through a waist pack that I wear. It doesn't interfere with my running at all.
I tested many lights, and this is the brightest lightweight light that I found. I have also seen bicycle riders using it on my early morning runs, and can see them at quite a distance. This is a quality product and great for both bike riding and running.
Update: I recently used this for running at night after sunset. I could see the beam reflecting off traffic signs at least 100 feet away, so I knew I was visible to oncoming traffic. In the park that is part of my route, it was pitch black, but the beam was more than adequate to light my path and also warn oncoming bike riders and other runners.
