It took several minutes to run the updates but I didn't mind. After the install and updates were finished, I was running version 5. The program is easy to use. I just plug in my usb cable (bought separately) to my phone and pc, then start MPT. The software is easy to use and makes it simple for me to backup my phone or transfer pictures and music. It will detect your phone and work for months, then, inexplicably it won't recognize your phone any more and the only way to fix it is as follows: Re-format your hard drive Install Windows Install Motorola Phone Tools Run Motorola Phone Tools MPT will say there is an update Update takes ten minutes to download and install Reboot Run MPT. MpT says there is an update Repeat the last five steps, I swear to God, thirty times. Finally, the software may or may not detect your phone. If it doesn't, re-format... I have had several different models of motorola phone, and this is the way Motorola Phone Tools has worked for many many years. If people like you keep buying it, they won't fix it. Althogh it worked initially, a couple of days later the system would no longer recognize the phone. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled but it still will no longer talk to the Razr.
