Summary: AWESOME MAGAZINE!!
Comment: If you're into metal music then this magazine is for you...they give TRUE reviews (not like Rolling Stone). All the articles in this magazine are interesting and from different points of view. They do musician meets musician articles where they interview 2 different musicians from 2 different bands that is very interesting. They do articles about album art. They go to the past and pull up history from the older bands of metal. I LOVE THIS MAGAZINE!

Summary: Used To Be Better
Comment: Maybe the publisher's are doing what they have to to sell as many magazines as possible, but for my taste, there are way too many articles on trendy, radio-friendly, pop or emo-type "metal" bands here. Bands which aren't metal at all, but just take a little "metal" seasoning and sprinkle it into their songs and image.

Now, in their defense, Revolver doesn't claim to be a metal-mag. Their sub-heading is actually 'The world's loudest rock magazine.' But I'm warning those who aren't familiar w/ the mag & might be looking for a slightly higher octane that this magazine walks a fine line, in my opinion.

There are some pretty lame regular-features like "Dressed To Kill" featuring your favorite "head-bangers" offering fashion tips: 'Jeans by Affliction~ Necklace by Gasoline Glamour!' And "Celebrity Advice Columns" by Vinnie Paul giving (to his credit) plenty of bad advice & Cristina Scabbia giving plenty of good advice to 15 & 16 year-olds. And maybe that's the target audience, so, there you go - what am I doing here?

They do feature metal bands (Lamb Of God, Slayer, Behemoth and so on) sometimes, but the articles are only so/so.

I will say that the subscription rate is hard to beat at a dollar an issue- and it's worth the price, but I don't get very excited when the new issue arrives because they seem to just get trendier & more consciously fashionable as they go.

So I won't be renewing my subscription unless they can turn it around and take it up a notch. But again, I'm probably not the audience they're after. I'm thinking Decibel Magazine is more to my taste; more intelligent & all around better bands on a more consistent basis.

Summary: Good for a laugh, but not always that great
Comment: Lately, I've been disappointed with almost every issue of Revolver. It seems to get so much more boring every issue and they always favor the "in" bands at the moment. I won't be missing this being in my mail when I don't renew my subscription.

Summary: Hottest Chicks In Metal Yearly Issue ROCKS!!!!
Comment: I have been an uber-loyal reader of Revolver for well over 6 years now. They cover all of the sub-genres of Rock, and Metal, and even some of the Emo-style poopy (not a fan, can ya tell?). They do have some cheesy articles, like how to dress like so-and-so, but I do like the page that showcases a musician and shows a few tattoos and talks about them. Vinny Paul (pantera, damageplan, etc..) and Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil) both have thier "advice" columns. I have been turned on to new bands through Revolver, since 90% of what I like is not regular radio airplay (oh how I want sirius). I love -LOVE- the yearly "Hottest Chicks in Metal" issue, which they have now added a page for the monthly hottest chick in metal. If ya love metal, finding out new artists, and love hot chicks this is for you! Oh, and did I mention I'm a married 30 year old mother of 2 toddlers? Yea, this mag is for all into Rock and Metal!
