Summary: I'm new to cell phones,but..................
Comment: This is my first cell phone and after studying the features of the standard basic phones I chose this one.My chose was based on the appearance of it -after looking at all the phones at the verizon store this is the only one I was willing to put into my pocket and I was glad to do that.I liked the simple shape and the rubberized material that covers the exterior. If you are like me and don't like the shinny or plastic looking phones then check this one out .I mean it's like looking at the BMW Z4 roadster-I'm sure it's a great car but to my taste its over designed .just too much going on in a small area.Check out this phone if you like simple designs.

Summary: Comprehensive Three Month Review
Comment: Had this phone about three months now. If you are a Verizon customer and you don't need a smart phone, you should definitely consider this phone. Here's the review:

PROS:

CALL QUALITY - as good as, if not better than, a landline. Everywhere. Had another Verizon phone, but it dropped calls every so often. Not this baby.

BUILD QUALITY - feels good and solid in the hand. Nice tactile sensation on rubber exterior. Phone does not slip out of your hand at all.

BLUETOOTH - have a bluetooth Motorola headpiece and the functionality is outstanding. Voice calling, activation, and termination are one touch simple. Wow, technology that works as it should. Can't believe it.

DEDICATED BUTTONS - this is the first phone that I owned where each commonly used function (speakerphone, volume, voice dialing etc.) all have nicely positioned dedicated hard buttons. It's great. You can do what you want with this phone quickly without having to go through any menus. A pleasure!

STYLING - as plain as it is, the phone has alot of aesthetic appeal.

CONS:

SCREEN - INTERIOR - The interior screen's resolution is pretty crappy and the good thing about it is that you don't look at it too much. But it does the job.

NO OPINION:

CAMERA, MUSIC ETC. - I don't really use these features, so I can't review them. But, like most of you, I own a separate camera, iPod etc., so I don't need my phone to do these things.

If you need a phone to make and receive phone calls wherever you might be, look no further. It is stylish and the call quality is top notch, as good as I've ever heard on a cell phone. A great choice for making phone calls.

Best of luck on your shopping.

Summary: I thought I wouldn't go back to Motorola but...
Comment: The most important thing to me is signal strength. The next thing is battery life, sound quality, speakerphone quality, bluetooth clarity and a voice recognition that doesn't leave you laughing hysterically (the first couple of times) or blastingly angry (after the a few more).

The LG 8350's voice recognition is ridiculously funny. At the Verizon store they said that it had to be trained first. OK, sure. I want to train my phone first...hmmm. Bluetooth on the LG was alright but scratchy and like I need stereo bluetooth to play music. That went back to the store. (By the way, signal and voice was fine but I wanted ALL to be good).

Next phone I tried was the Samsung U410 which was OK but boring and the bluetooth was also scratchy and the sound on the speakerphone is fine if you have a bionic ear. I don't so that one went back.

I tried these two brands (LG and Samsung) because somewhere in the back of my mind, I was avoiding Motorola as they can be buggy. I have had two Motorola phones before (the V710 and a grey clamshell thing some year back) and they always worked great-when they worked.

At the Verizon store in Sacramento, since these phones were not working out for me, I decided to hold my nose and try the Motorola W385. Well, the bluetooth was totally clear and loud, the speakerphone was clear and similar to what I experienced with the V710, signal strength was solid. The voice recognition got the numbers I mentioned the first time without needing to be "trained" like the LG. I looked up the reviews (the Verizon employee let me get on the internet) and was pleasantly surprised to see alot of good reviews. The employee knew nothing about this phone and said that she doesn't sell many Motorolas. Well to make a long story short, I think you should try this phone and see if you agree that this is the best all around phone.
Good luck!
