The fact that these sell for $30+ each anywhere is a joke. Secondly, I agree with other reviewers that the newer batteries simply do not hold a charge as long as their older ones. (If you look closely, the batteries are date stamped.) My originals from 4-5 years ago hold a better charge than those bought in the last couple of years...in fact, each batch seems to be worse. Third, a bad charger (and yes, they malfunction without warning - especially the 'fast chargers') can ruin the battery attached to it. Nice quality control there, B&D.
