Summary: Great in Theory
Comment: I tried this on a new XP computer with no extra software nor any spy/virus detection software installed. The backup proceedure though simple, does not work with custom options, A "complete" backup to an external drive or media may work but takes alot of disk space. If you desire not to backup certain files or folders the application fails. Restoration is another issue. A PC will boot with the supplied CD disk, But I have not been able to restore the computer to it's original state using the backup. Support from the company would be a dream come true. I have tried to test the app before anyones life can depend on it. My advice "Don't depend on Acronis 11" to save the day. And I yet have to read any review that has actually restored a PC using it. Summary: Thinking about Paragon Drive Backup?
Comment: Think again. In the short time I've used True Image 11, it is far superior. Paragon Drive Backup locked up my PC early and often until it finally caused an error on my boot sector. No problem, I thought; I've got a backup. Didn't work. Wrong sort of drive it turns out. I bought Acronis when a Dow Chemical IT guy told me they use it on dozens (or was it hundreds?) of machines and it has saved them numerous times.

Comment: I purchased Acronis True Image 11 Home in order to backup my c drive with an image. It is easy to use and works well. After doing a complete backup, I did a restore to make sure it was going to do the job. It restored the system flawlessly, so I now have a great deal of confidence in it.
I wanted to be able to do a full back up automatically each week and keep two copies of backup at all times. It can do that. You have to be sure and follow the directions to set up a backup folder via the software. At first I just make a folder in explorer and it does not work that way. I contacted live support at Acronis on a Sunday am and got immediate response. Within a few minutes my misunderstanding was resolved. I love this software and the support is great.

Summary: Not without its bugs
Comment: I had file sharing issues on my network after installing the software. One computer on my network was inaccessible. I uninstalled the software and the problems went away. I am still waiting to hear back from tech support. I do run the software on the bootable cd to clone my hard drive. I am very impressed at the speed at which it copies(250 GB drive in less than an hour). Acronis shows up in Windows Device Manager and I'm not sure why. Perhaps that is causing the file sharing problems that so many people are experiencing. Problems aside, I do feel that this is a very powerful product.
