Neti Wash Plus contains zinc and herbal extracts that add anti-microbial and anti-viral support to your nasal wash. Zinc helps to tone and astringe the nasal passages reducing excess mucus and promoting clear, healthy sinuses. Studies show that Zinc reduces the duration and symptoms of the common cold, slowing the replication of rhinoviruses which typically cause colds. Neti Wash Plus contains Zinc Acetate --a form of Zinc shown to be more effective in shortening the duration of the common cold. Neti Wash Plus also contains extracts of Grapefruit Seed and Goldenseal Root, found by scientists to inhibit the growth of hundreds of strains of pathogens. Grapefruit Seed Extract has been used by the natural foods industry for over 20 years as an antibiotic, disinfectant, and antiseptic. Perfect for use with the Himalayan Institute Neti Pot.* Economical 4 oz size. Ingredients: Zinc acetate, Goldenseal root (Hydrastis canadensis), Phellodendron bark (Phellodendron amurense), Coptis root (Coptis chinensis), Barberry root bark (Berberis vulgaris), Grapefruit seed extract, vegetable glycerin and distilled, purified water. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Customer Rating: Summary: Neti Wash with Zinc is an EXCELLENT product Comment: Neti Wash with Zinc is an EXCELLENT product. I have been using this product for over one year and will continue using it. I believe this product aids in the loosing and flushing of mucus. Haven't had a cold either, could be luck though.
My sense of smell has not been affected. If anything, because of having cleaner and healthier sinuses, my sense of smell is probably better than before. For those alarmists who see the word zinc and freak out - read the FDA statement! Certain Zicam (only Zicam) products were removed from the market because:
1. The labeling made claims intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease . . .
2. The labeling did not provide warning about the possibility of loss of sense of smell
3. More than 130 reports about loss of smell
The zinc used in the products recalled was zinc gluconate 2x.
The zinc in Neti Wash is zinc acetate, and according to the FDA correct labeling on the bottle, this amount and type of zinc has not had any reported adverse affects. Also consider that this product is diluted in the Neti pot and poured thru the nostrils.
So relax and enjoy the benefits of a great product, and please, take the time to be an informed consumer.
Customer Rating: Summary: For sinuses, flu etc. it worked for me and my wife! Comment: We do not use it everyday. My wife has sensitive sinuses. She uses Neti wash plus, during the allergy season and her allergies are history!
We had flu. Generally, flu would last about week to 10 days. With Neti wash plus, flu was gone in about three days. Could it work for Swine flu?
Customer Rating: Summary: Contains zinc! Do not use! Comment: The FDA just confirmed that zinc-containing nasal sprays, swabs, etc., can cause complete and permanent loss of the sense of smell. Amazon should stop selling this. The Neti Pot is a good product. Plain saline works very well. Save your money and don't buy the starter kit or this stuff.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love this stuff. After much shopping, it's cheapest here on Amazon. Comment: First of all, I must say that the Neti Pot is pure genius. At first a little bizzar and a bit gross but folks, IT WORKS! I discovered Neti Wash Plus by happenstance surfing the internet. This stuff is a fantastic complement to the plain salty water. For me, it gives a soothing effect to my nose with a pleasant aroma. The herbal oils inside claim to be good for the nose and the added zinc aids in preventing colds. You can get the Neti Wash without zinc but only in the 2oz bottle and it costs more than the Neti Wash w/zinc in the 4oz bottle. Using once a day, a 4oz bottle will last several months. I've searched all over for the lowest price and so far, Amazon's Neti Wash Plus with zinc in the 4oz bottle is the best deal going.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not So fast it doesn't seem to do anything more than regular salts. Comment: I've been using this for 2-3 months now. Haven't noticed it makes any difference. Even when I'm in trouble with infection and need to go on antibiotic's...it just doesn't seem to pull it's weight as to how it's supposet to help or make a difference. Maybe it helps some people but it doesn't seem to really do anything. I don't think it hurts either so didn't give it a 1 star. But save your money and stick with the salts. I particularly liked the salt with the added Xyetol in it. However becareful. This artificial sugar and antibiotic is dangerous for any animals so keep packets safely out of their reach and dump all your water out of it's netti pot or what ever method of application bottle you use. But it's so far my favorite. I do use it with the specialized salts and I think it suggests you do to. I didn't use it without the salt. And like I said on a daily basis through the inversions we have here in the mountains and that's when my sinus problems are at their worse.
