Customer Rating: Summary: Works great, smells bad Comment: I like to wash my hair every fourth day, if I can. Other then at the scalp, which is a greasy mess by day 3, my hair usually looks better a few days out. Enter Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo. I love it, because it really does soak up the grease; I have no problem going four or more days between shampoos. The only thing is, I really hate the smell; another problem is that it makes this brunette's roots look grey. However, since two weeks after a visit to my hairdresser, my roots are grey, I can't say that is a problem :). I recommend it
Customer Rating: Summary: Kept looking around for Mr. Clean... Comment: I'm on the quest for the perfect dry shampoo and I picked up the travel/tester size of this product. My sister and I both tried it... We both have thick and oily hair. The product worked well in that it did remove the oil and give a little lift to both her straight and my curly hair, but I wouldn't say a lot better than baby powder. Her hair is a chestnut-brown and even after rubbing it in she looked pretty gray! But worst of all was the smell. I like verbena, so I thought I wouldn't mind its lemon-verbena smell, but really I felt like the Pine-Sol lady for the rest of the day. I guess you either like the smell or you don't. If you're fair-haired (blond, white, gray, etc), and like the smell of lemon cleaner - go for it. Otherwise, there are better options.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dry shampoo ok. Comment: I read a lot of reviews on lots of products before buying this dry shampoo. It does soak up the oil leaving your hair looking fresh. As to all the complaints about the white powder residue....well there can be a residue if you don't flip your hair over and really rub it in with your finger tips, but it only takes two seconds to do that. I have thin, fine blonde hair. I imagine a brunette would be fine using this, but maybe not someone with black hair. As to the scent, it is a bit strong, but I happen to like lemon and it's not a bad scent. You certainly won't offend anyone. I read a lot of reviews raving about the added volume it gives your hair - well, I didnt notice that it added any volume. Maybe I didn't use enough. The volume would have been an added benefit, anyway. Overall good product, but I'm not married to it. I would easily switch brands if I found something cheaper.
Customer Rating: Summary: does the job! Comment: I love the idea of a dry shampoo- especially as it takes about an hour to style my hair from wet to dry. To save time (and energy) I wash my hair every other day and use this product in between- my hair is naturally very fine and very oily so going one day without washing it would be out of the question otherwise.
What I like about this product is: 1) the smell is nice and fresh. the other options out there in terms of fragrance have all been too powdery smelling- a scent that I do not prefer and I find to smell a bit geriatric. Not exactly the image I am going for and 2) it is easy to apply. I just use a large powder brush and brush it into my roots and around my hairline. It takes about 3 minutes to apply and brush through. 3) even though I PREFER spray dry shampoo I was getting tired of paying 25$ per bottle only to have the nozzle clog 2/3rds of the way through the bottle. So, this is a better option considering.
The only improvement that I could suggest would be tinting the powder to work for darker-haired people as the white color seems to show up in darker hair.
For those previous reviews that talked about puffs of powder coming off of their scalp- they are obviously using too much. I would suspect that they are squeezing the powder directly on the scalp (which can be done but requires a good deal of control and finesse of which I have little of either) rather than using a method that would allow them to control the amount applied a little better- as in using a powder brush.
Customer Rating: Summary: Better than other dry shampoos Comment: I have very oily skin which means I can wash my hair in the morning and have limp hair by oily weight by evening. So, it's perfect to refresh my look after classes/work.
Yet, it's good for it's smell, too.I have tried other dry shampoos (specifically a spray dry shampoo Bastile I think it's called). The other shampoo didn't have the citrus scent that Oscar has. The citrus scent isn't just nice because it smells good, but also because when I wait a day or 2 between hair washings, my hair will start to smell odd. It's not really bad, but it doesn't smell "clean." The citrus scent eliminates this immediately, unlike the scent from Bastile.
However, I do suggest: I have darker hair, so sometimes I have to do a good once over to make sure you can't see the white powder anywhere. Next time I may try to upgrade to a brand that is colored.
