The HL-2170W is a network, monochrome laser printer that is ideal for home or home office printer sharing. It features network connectivity via Ethernet and wireless interfaces, a fast print speed of up to 23ppm, HQ resolution (up to 2400 x 600 dpi) for high-quality output, and quick processing with 32MB memory. The HL-2170W provides flexible paper handling via an enclosed 250-sheet capacity tray and a manual by-pass slot for printing envelopes and letterhead. It also offers a Toner Save mode to extend toner life and wide compatibility with support for Windows and Mac and PCL6 emulation.

Summary: Great (if you trick the toner!)
Comment: This is the perfect laser printer for a student like me: cheap, efficient, easy to use, and without any sacrifice in quality. Just make sure you follow the advice of the reviewer below and 'trick' the printer into continuing to print even when it thinks the toner is too low. All you have to do is put some opaque tape over one of the 'windows' through which the printer beams a light in order to check if the toner is full. When one of the circular, glass windows is blocked, the printer thinks the toner is full and keeps printing. I just did the 'trick' with a piece of scotch tape and a black Sharpie. Note that I applied the tape to the plastic piece outside of the window, as the window itself is hard to get to, and this approach worked swimmingly.

Comment: Great printer. I use it with my wireless network and never have to hook up a cable. Just press the button to print and it prints. Can't ask for more than that. I had some trouble at first hooking it up, but once I used the recommended way with the network cable, it was easy. Loved it so much I bought one for my in-laws. This year my parents get one. I highly recommend it.

Comment: Love this thing. It was easy to setup, fantastic quality b&w. Much less hassle and better quality than an ink-jet. I would've done this years ago if the price had been this good. Highly recommended!

Summary: Some problems, btu so far ok.
Comment: The set up for this printer was a breeze and so far I've only had a few messed up print jobs. Hopefully it will not become a chronic problem. The traditional remedy of turn the printer off and then back on and try again seems to be working on the occasions when problems arise.

Comment: Great printer, the output is very good and the sheets don't curl too much.
Setup was easy (especially if you read the manuls first)
Just plug it into the router as recommended for the initial setup. Then you can use the web page to administer it.
It looks like it was fairly well made and has great features (holds half a reem).
I'll update after a year of use.
