I had to find out with trial and error that the main charging coiled cable the goes in the phone only charges from your computer usb port. The extra battery charger will charge from the wall outlet power cord that is attached. The product only charges both items at the same time while plugged in the wall and in the usb port at the same time. Good buy if you keep the unit attached to a desktop computer. Not practical to use with a laptop that isn't stationary.
