The energy and joy that they all exhibited when performing and his intense and almost frenetic conducting really make you wish you were there in person. Yes, there is considerable hype surrounding this young magician of a conductor, but spend some time with this recording or better yet attend a concert that he conducts and you will be astonished at just how musical he is. While the various podiums he occupies are before orchestra playing the classical repertoire, the fact that Dudamel would have the energy and foresight to place this recording before the public at the time when he is opening his first season as the conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic is yet another feather in his cap, a hat he happily wears before the youth orchestras of the world. Comment: I just watched this performance on Ovation TV, and was extremely impressed with the music selections and the quality of the performance. It was very invigorating and a real joy to watch. The sights and sounds grabbed my two-year old daughter, and she could not sit still nor take her eyes off the TV during the entire program. I recorded it so that I can watch it again, but I will definitely purchase the DVD for the improved sound quality with my Surround Sound System. I highly recommend this program!
