Summary: Excellent battery with all accessories
Comment: I bought this battery for iPhone 3G. The battery can charge ca iPhone 3G twice. You can also charge iPhone with the car charger for the battery, the wall charger. Therefore, you can charge iPhone in three ways.
This charger can also charge other cell phone, eg Moto v3. Much cheaper than similar products.

Summary: Works well, but has a weak-link
Comment: This item works well and the actual battery was smaller / lighter than expected. I would have given it 5-stars but the included cable failed on the first outing. It is the item with interchangable tips and pulls to extend / retract. Once I used existing cables I already had (USB - iPOD) and (USB to Mini-USB), everything worked again.
I'm using this with the 3G iPhone and Moto RAZR.

Pro's:
1. Smaller and much lighter than the iPhone 3g;
2. Less expensive than competitor products and it has more functionality;
3. Charges the iPhone 3g in 1 1/2 hr. (Compared to a 3 1/2 hr. charge time via the Apple iPhone 3G USB connection to the computer);
4. Covered in a thin black rubberized finish for a good grip;
5. Cheaper than competitors ($25.99 compared to $46.94 as of the date of this review);
6. Additional electronic adapters and connectors are included(saved me another $16.00 purchase of a car charger) that allow me to use this with other electronics as well. Most other battery back-ups omit these options.
7. Two year warranty (longer than the one year warranty for the Apple iPhone 3g 16GB cell phone I use).
8. Lenmar back up battery can recharge my iPhone three times on one Lenmar charge.
9. Lenmar back up battery recharged from the wall socket in less than 30 minutes.
10. Can recharge and use your cell phone at the same time.
Cons:
1. One more little electronic gizmo to carry around on a long trip. (Not Lenmar's fault or Apple's, but a fact of life for any 3g phones with GSM capabilities all of which are notorious for draining battery power quickly).
2. Could use a very small carry pouch for the extra connectors and cables (car charger adapter, wall socket adapter, adapter for Motorola Razr V3, USB dongle, etc.)that Lenmar provides. These are easy to lose when traveling around. Would be nice if Lenmar included a small travel case to hold the small components and attachments, even if they charged more. However, a relatively cheap small mini-camera case ($6.00) will do the trick.
Extended Review:
My Apple iPhone 3G, 16GB cell phone sucks power. I'm lucky to get a full days use from it without a recharge. A back-up battery is a necessity not an option for many users.
After doing some looking and research, I couldn't figure out why the Kensington mini battery charger ($46.94 as of the date of this review) cost so much more than this Lenmar battery back-up charger($25.99) and seemed to be so much more popular. The Lenmar with many extras such as a car charger and multiple interchangeable connectors for use with other electronics. These are not included with most other battery back up systems. The Lenmar was almost half the price of the Kensington charger and seemed more functional. However,the Kensington was reviewed on many more blogs and product web-sites than the Lenmar. The Lenmar seemed simply too inexpensive and too good to be true.
The Lenmar battery back-up arrived promptly and was much smaller and nicer than I thought it would be for the price. It has a thin coating of a black rubber material that makes it easy to grip. It's much smaller than the Amazon picture indicates. It's smaller and lighter than my iPhone 3g. The retractable USB dongle that was supplied is small, light and very functional. However, the dongle wire isn't thick enough to use with an external mini hard-drive which requires a thicker cord for more power.
The retractable USB dongle also allows the flexibility to fold the Lenmar battery pack behind the iPhone so that I can hold both together comfortably and talk on the cell phone while the charger is attached. This isn't a huge inconvenience or a huge disadvantage compared to chargers that clip directly to the base of an iPhone. No need to disconnect the battery pack to answer the phone.
This is an excellent product at an excellent price.

Summary: Great for Iphone 3G
Comment: Works great with Iphone 3G. Got 2 full charges from battery. Smaller and thinner than the phone, but same basic shape compliments Iphone. Instructions are very basic. Make sure that you push the LED button on the battery to begin charging the Iphone. If you leave the battery on the Iphone after charging, it appears to drain the Iphone. I have not confirmed this is the case, but when I left it overnight, the phone and the battery were drained in the morning (unplugged). Overall, a very good accessory for the Iphone, and much more versatile than the Apple accessories (or any other currently available chargers). Kudos.

Summary: Works with iPhone 3G!!
Comment: This review pertains to the Lenmar powerport kit but I believe that the standalone version is the same device without the accessories. Device is smaller, lighter, and thinner than the iPhone 3G. It is very portable. My initial charge of the Powerport took about 4 hours from the supplied AC charger. I let my 3G iPhone get down to 20% and then plugged it into the Lenmar Powerport using the iPhone synch cable. In about 50 minutes my phone was back to 100%. I also tested the wind-up cable supplied with the device (if you get the kit) and it appears to work just as well as the stock Apple cable. Both the AC and auto adapter appear to work as direct chargers which is good because my Monster ipod auto charger will not work with the new iPhone 3G. Other reviewers of this product said that they were able to charge the 1st gen iPhone at least twice. The next time my device gets down to 20% I'll throw it back on the Powerport and see if has enough juice left for another charge. Even if I can only get one recharge I think that it's a great deal!
