Customer Rating: Summary: No power for rough jobs. Comment: I bought this razor because Walmart quit carying the blades for my 10 year old R845. I agree with others that this thing is quiet, much more quiet than the old Ramington, but that's because the old Remington was performing work. My beard appears to be too much for this razor. It sounds like it is barely running and the results indicate the same. My two minute shave has gone to 5 minutes for the same results. I'll turn this thing on and let the batter run down and recharge to see if it is a battery memory issue. In the meantime, I've found blades for the old razor on amazon and I'm going that route. This razor is an excellent choice for regifting this season. ;)
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Value Comment: I'm in my early 60s now, and over the years I've bounced around, as far as shaving. Late teens - rotary. Twenties - blade. Thirties - beard with blade and/or rotary around the edges. Forties/early fifties - back to rotary. Rest of fifties - foil. In all cases, off and on, I would often get a few ingrown hair white pustules on the front of the chin, under the lower lip - very aggravating. And at my age and beard condition, I seemed to be getting more of them with the foil shavers - I think mostly because I had to push hard and repeat with the foil to get a sufficiently close shave. This Philips/Norelco rotary cuts well with a lighter touch (still not blade smooth), and with an after shave gel followup, I am happy with the end result. An adequately smooth shave, in about 2/3 the time, with a lot fewer ingrowns. It took me 3 or 4 shaves, to adjust my touch. BTW, I do like the water cleanup - it's real easy. I researched on-line for about 4-6 hours, and decided on this product after reading several reviews, and comparing prices. I just could not justify going up towards $100 (or beyond) for shaving. I think replacement blades are in the $30s, and recommended once a year - if I continue to get this result, it will be worth it. Oh, the battery does stay full charge (or near) till the very end, and then shuts down - no indicator. I don't mind. When I get near 30 minutes usage, I just let it run out, and then put it on charge - for about 8 hours.
Customer Rating: Summary: I detest the word "Awesome", however, Comment: I will make an exception in regards to the performance of this razor. There is absolutely nothing about it that could be improved, and no, I am not a shill for Norelco, simply a satisfied user with a tough beard.
Customer Rating: Summary: Happy! Comment: After going from a 10+ year old shaver to this one, it was like starting to shave all over again. The pleasure of using this new shaver was hard to describe. My old shaver had me tethered to an electrical outlet since the batteries were so worn out. Now I have new freedom to walk around the house shaving. Even more fun, I can wash the shavings out rather than using that little annoying brush. More freedom! And, boy, does it shave close! I have had Norelco's for about 30 years and I have never been disappointed!
Customer Rating: Summary: not close Comment: I used to have norelco 2 rotary shaver for 10 years.
That'was [...] bucks but very good and durable.
I think recent norelco shavers seems to develop contrary.
Old norelco are better than recent norelco shavers.....
This shaver takes a lot of minute to shave and it's not close shave.
After I shave with this shaver, I was looked like being not shaved for a day.
