Editorial Reviews:

NEW LOW PRICE -- TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS GREAT OFFER WHILE IT LASTS!

In order to fully enjoy a bottle of wine's true aroma, it's important to keep it at the proper temperature, as serving it too cold will cause it to lose its flavor notes while excessively warm temperatures will speed up the aging process. However, whether you're a budding wine connoisseur or a true oenophile, you don't have to spend thousands of dollars building a home wine cellar. Instead, a thermoelectric wine cooler such as the NewAir AW-180E is a great, affordable way to keep your wine properly chilled.

The NewAir AW-180E thermoelectric wine cooler has an eighteen bottle capacity with digital controls that make it incredibly easy to use. The LED light provides bright contrast and the touch screen on the display is intuitive and easy to control. Moreover, an internal LED light within the NewAir AW-180E wine cooler illuminates for greater visibility so that you know exactly which bottle of wine you are pulling out.

In terms of sound, because the unit's thermoelectric technology involves very little moving parts, this results in vibration-free, silent operation that won't disturb your indoor environment. Lastly, for a touch of sophistication, the racks inside the NewAir AW-180E are chrome-plated.

For an affordable, compact, and easy-to-operate thermoelectric wine cooler with a large eighteen bottle capacity, try the NewAir AW-180E

Summary: AW-180E works well.
Comment: Have had the unit now for 1+ week. Everything is in working order, and unit cools well. Has a nice look to it especially with stainless steel handle installed, with a rather solid door. Nice interior lighting. Wife opened bottle of wine earlier this evening and temperature was within range. Would recommend.

Summary: Moderately Priced Decent Quality Wine Cooler
Comment: I ordered this unit after trying to replace a 12 Bottle Avanti that worked for 2 years and then got extremely noisy and lost approximately 4 degrees of cooling capacity. I needed to replace it and after ordering an identical replacement that was on back order for a few weeks I gave up and ordered this one. The good news is that it shipped in one day and arrived in two. (We live in CA and it was shipped from Santa Anna, CA.) Because it is wider than the Avanti, but otherwise basically similar footprint, it has a higher capacity. As other reviewers have mentioned, you won't be able to get wide bottles to fit 3 to a shelf so if you have wide Burgundy type bottles capacity will come down. However, you can easily flip over a shelf and then the wide bottles fit perfectly albeit 2 to a shelf, so it will reduce capacity but you can play with this to make it have anywhere from 12 to 18 bottles depending on the type. The unit cooled down within two hours. On mine, the temperature gauge is off by six degrees. If you set it at 50 degrees (the coolest setting) the actual temperature will drop to 56 or so. I have a Radio Shack Thermometer/Hydrometer which I believe is more accurate than the gauge on this unit. I suspect other like units will perform exactly the same way. Also, like my old Avanti, this unit seems to cool to 20 to 21 degrees below ambient temperature. I haven't had this one during warmer weather, but it is a characteristic of all these units that they are greatly effected by Ambient Temperature. Most of the Instruction booklets say this. Though it seemss like one could switch the side from which the door opens easily, the temperature gauge and handle screw holes were oriented permanently to open from the left side. This is not a big deal but worth noting. I suspect they might make these opening from the right but I don't think Amazon offers.

Finally, I can't yet comment on how long this unit will last. But I think my previous experience with these units is valid. Expect 1 to 2 years. The units are very susceptible to dust so keep the fans clean and the exhaust vents clean. Don't expect to age wine in them. Useful to keep wine in house that came out of cellar or to chill newly bought wine.

Summary: Dad seems to like it
Comment: This was a Christmas gift for my father, who is normally very picky about what he keeps as gifts. He was on the verge of returning this one because "it wouldn't hold the large wine bottles," but apparently after removing some of the racks he's found a way to stuff them in. He says that to him, wine chilled at this temperature tastes much better than refrigerated wine, which is how he used to store his bottles. If my father could do a 180 on the practicality of this cooler and my mother could find it to be aesthetically in sync with the rest of her kitchen, it's gotta be a pretty good product.

Summary: Great Wine Cellar!!
Comment: This is the second wine cellar I have purchased in the last 3 years and I researched this for a week. The last wine cellar I had was a bust from Oster, a great Black Friday deal but stopped working after 6 months. My experience was that it took several hours to cool down and it was realy picky about the ambient temperature. Just a little dust on the back cover sent the internal temp upward and really, all I wanted was chilled wine!!! After all my research, I kept coming back to this model. This has the "look" I wanted for my kitchen but I had never owned a product by this company. I did read the other reviews regarding the humming sound it makes but in my position my previous wine cellar sounded like a jet taking off each time you opened the door to get out a bottle of wine and it had to kick in to lower the internal temp again.
When I first unpacked the NewAir cellar, my first thought was wow, this is beautiful!! I got it set in it's new home by the wet bar and plugged it in. Gorgeous!! The temperature starting out showed 74 degrees and it was automatically set to go down to 54 degrees. And it got to 54 degrees....in 30 minutes!!!! I was shocked!! So by that time, I loaded about 10 bottles of wine into the cellar. It took about 1 1/2 hours total to chill all that wine that had been at room temperature. I am very impressed with this machine. As for the humming sound, I have yet to hear it. I know it is working because the wine is cold, but not sure what the other reviewer were describing...maybe my kitchen is just noisy!!hahaahaha
Anyway, I would not hesitate to recommend this cellar and will follow up in a few months with an additional review.

Summary: Skinny bottles only
Comment: I've only had this wine fridge for a short time, so I can't comment on its reliability (our last one which we purchased at Lowes lasted about 6 months). It looks good, is a convenient, compact size and seems to work well. But there's no way you can fit 18 bottles in it unless they're slim - such as the standard Bordeaux and Alsace shapes. The chubbier Burgundy size and anything larger just won't fit. The only way to get them in is to remove every second rack and make sure you lie slim and chubby bottles side by side. Makes it closer to a 10-12 bottle fridge.
