This US post office licensed desk-top sized scale weighs items from .1 ounce up to 10 pounds. Very convenient item for home or office. The unit has a 1.3" LCD display and easy-to-use buttons. Weight read-out can be switched between ounces and grams. The scale top has a flip-up easel to allow for large envelope weighing. (This product does not connect to the USPS.)

Summary: just died after three months
Comment: this scale was great till it just stopped working. Dead. Blank. Nothing. I was transporting it from my office to my house. I did not wrap it in bubble wrap, but i didnt toss it around either. Clearly this is just not a very durable scale. If you are going to baby it, then its a great value. But if you are going to give it some real world use, don't be surprised if it konks out after a little while

Summary: A huge time saver
Comment: If you are in the habit of feeding your gadget lust by selling your older gadgets, books or other items through Amazon, you also probably spend a significant percentage of your life standing around the post office while the postal lady patiently explained to the man at the counter that it really was not her fault that postal rates went up yet again. The quick and easy solution is to start printing out shipping labels from paypal (hint: the postal service has cheaper prices online... since the premium service you get at the post office is worth so much more :)). But you do need to know the weight of the item you are shipping and for that you need a postal scale. This particular model works well, is easy to use and can switch between grams and pounds for the metric minded amongst us. The weight resolution is in 0.1Oz increments which means you can even figure out when you have a letter which is too heavy for normal first class mail prices. I am very happy after using it for the last 6 months and 20+ different packages.

Summary: Use it to ship from home & in the kitchen
Comment: I'm definitely getting my money's worth out of this scale. It took me a while to decide it was worth investing in, but I've already used it to save money on shipping by using USPS's click-n-ship feature printing out shipping labels after weighing packages at home (rate is cheaper with free delivery confirmation) and by avoiding overpaying for letter postage (additional postage needed for anything over 1 oz.) by simply checking with this scale - previously I would just guess and add on another stamp when I probably didn't need to but felt it would be better to be safe. I've also used it in the kitchen for cooking by weight which saves on having to wash extra measuring cups. The tare, hold, and different weight options (lb/oz for shipping, gm for cooking) have all worked flawlessly. I'm very happy with the functions and accuracy. The only thing I have to remind myself of is not to immerse it in water when washing flour off of the scale when baking, etc. I've had no problems having it wipe clean with a damp towel. I really love that it works cordlessly with batteries, but you have the power cord provided in case you want to use it that way too. This is a great simple scale - get this instead of separate scales for shipping and for cooking!

Comment: Worked right out of the box. Seems to have everything I need, including ounces, ounces/pounds, grams and a hold button for big stuff that covers the display. 10lb scale seems pretty repeatable under an ounce too for letters.
