Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portableGPS navigators with its nüvi 755T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio.New to the nüvi 7x5 lineup is Garmin's HotFix satellite prediction (which locates your position quickly and precisely), Lane Assist (which provides lane guidance and junction views when possible), automatic time zone transitioning, and 3D Building views as well as Garmin Connect Photos to help you visually ascertain your position. Additionally, the nüvi 755T includes free real-time traffic updates from Navteq (for the life of the device) via the included GTM 20 traffic receiver. The bright, 4.3-inch touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70 percent more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

Customer Rating: Summary: Traffic avoidance not ready for prime time Comment: I have owned a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 for 5+ years and have been looking for a second unit with traffic jam avoidance capabilities. The 2610 is a sweet GPS and it continues to work well.
I had added the Garmin 755T to my Amazon wish list, but reconsidered after some research. The traffic feature works well in some metropolition areas but does not work well in other locations. There are many services to choose from to provide the traffic input. Some users feel strongly that the XM radio service is best. The 755T comes with a lifetime subscription to the MSN FM service. Today I learned, from the microsoft website, that the MSN FM service will terminate on January 1, 2012. One reason MSN gave for dropping the service is that FM radio is no longer the best way to provide traffic info. So, it's not the best service, and a lifetime is only a little over two years (and that's hidden in the small print). I think I'll wait a year or two to get the second GPS.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nuvi 755t Comment: This Garmin is useful and does its job quite well. It does have a few quirks in that it will take you off an expressway to re-enter at the next exit. You should never totally trust a machine as anything but an aid. And as a navigation aid the Garmin is wonderful.
Customer Rating: Summary: Garmin Sucks Comment: I encourage anybody thinking of purchasing a Garmin Nuvi expecially the Nuvi 755T not to purchase it. You will be sorry. This product from Garmin has major problems. Garmin is constantly sending out software updates to try in a vain attempt to fix the problems, but it does not work. It will eventually fail. Garmin's customer service sucks much ass.
I suggest that you steer clear away from Garmin if you are thinking about purchasing a GPS unit. I had an older Nuvi model that worked fine, but the newer Nuvi products from Garmin are nothing but trash.
Customer Rating: Summary: rediculous interface Comment: back, back, back, back, back, back, back - It wouldn't bother me so much if there was a "home" button or another option to simply take you back to the map if you decide you don't want to go to a specific destination anymore, or if you don't want to look something up (many times i've waited for it to find POI's and it took to long so i just said forget it, i'll find something. That part doesnt bother me as much as after i decide to just drive around, i can't see the map unless i literally hit the back button 17 times.
it's pretty, sleek, ads are inobtrusive, traffic is generally accurate, but for those people complaining about it not being 100% accurate all the time, you are wasting your energy because no traffic report is going to be 100% accurate all the time. use common sense with this one. if it's rush hour, there will be traffic. if there is a traffic jam in the middle of the night for no apparent reason, the liklihood of updating immediately is not very high. so friggin what! the traffic map is generally accurate and the arrival time with traffic is also pretty accurate, and if it's not it adjusts.
ads are unobtrusive, and overall it's a good device - i got it on discount, so for what i paid it's fine, but i wouldn't be happy if i paid full price for it.
i have always used garmins (running gps, etc.) so i'm partial to garmin, which is why i went with this, and even though i would get this again, i'm not hugely impressed with this device. it works, i generally like it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Garimin GPS Comment: We lost our old GPS, so we decided to buy this one. Sorry to say, but whenever there's a new version of something, it's always best to wait till the price drops! I paid over $300 for a device that works just like the rest "ok", I should have just bought the $100 version and been happy
