Customer Rating: Summary: Another Great RPG with lots of challenges Comment: I think this game is a great end of the year success, not only does it have a very rich story line but the character building in the game is marvelous. Not only can you pick a specific class and race to play and later learn better skills or a new class depending on the storyline, but you have lots of area and things to explore. I love the fact that you can download another great tool for creating your own mods, and the additional content that is available for a low price makes the game ever changing and never gets redundant. If you are a fan of the old Baulders Gate series or Neverwinter Nights, than you are really going to enjoy this game that much more.
Customer Rating: Summary: RPB paradise! Comment: This game is completely immersive. It's so well acted and written that you constantly look forward to the next plot reveal. And the amazing character interaction is addictive. I am an old Baldur's gate fan and reformed WoW addict. The plot of this game is the best I've ever encountered, and the story is right in step with classic fantasy (Belgariad, LoTR, Shannara). My one complaint is that some of the cut scenes are a bit long. However, the conversations are priceless and there is plenty of humor to be found. Game play is quite nice and very simple to configure. Group battling is wonderful, and thanks to pausing you can micromanage. Solid and classic RPG. I can't wait for expansions. :)
Customer Rating: Summary: Worthy Succesor to Baldur's Gate II Comment: Is this game as good as BGII? No, it is not a masterpiece. It is a fun, story and dialog driven game that borrows the great tactical combat system from BGII and the other infinity engine games. However, the game mechanics are not as well designed as those older D&D based games however, and certain classes and abilities are grossly overpowered. I think some of this is intentional given the universe (mages being stronger, for example). The game is designed more around fun and graphics than balanced combat mechanics. Graphically, it is the best looking RPG I have ever played. The action is incredibly intense and the tactical pausing gives it a Matrixesque feel. Hopefully this will be the start of a new series that can increase in quality over time.
Customer Rating: Summary: In-game advertising for additional content ruins an otherwise good game Comment: After paying forty bucks for a game, it's really disappointing to find out that many of the best-sounding quests are DISABLED until you cough up MORE MONEY to add them.
I don't have a problem with a game company offering additional content for additional money. What bothers me is when you're going along in the game that you paid for, and hear about an interesting quest, but when you try to accept it, it won't allow you to unless you pay money to Bioware. This disrupts the flow of the game and makes the game feel more like a demo than a fully paid-for product. For me at least, it ruins the game.
This is a lousy way to treat a paying customer, and I won't likely be buying another Electronic Arts product.
Customer Rating: Summary: The quintessential PC RPG Comment: My review will be brief - this is the best RPG to grace the PC since Planescape: Torment, and the original Baldur's Gate before that. You would do yourself a disservice not to buy it. Highly, highly, highly recommended.
