Diana Krall's 12th album Quiet Nights is an intimate recording of ballads and bossa novas from the team that brought you her best-selling GRAMMY Award-winning CD The Look of Love. Accompanied by her quartet and orchestra, Diana turns her sensual vocals and consummate piano skills to "The Boy from Ipanema", "Walk on By"and other classic tunes. Quiet Nights is initially available as a limited edition CD including 2 bonus tracks - her stunning rendition of the Bee Gee's "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" and the standard "Every Time We Say Goodbye". Also available on LP pressed on 180 Gram Vinyl.

Customer Rating: Summary: Soft and Excellent Comment: Is something wrong with me? Why do so many reviewers dislike this album? I don't care for the majority of Ms. Krall's previous work but decided to give her new alubm a chance, and was immediately delighted. So soft, so relaxing - so soothing that I fell into a delicious mid-afternoon nap midway through the first time I heard it. It's lush without being smothering and beautiful without being pretentious, and has become one of my favorite albums. Besides the cover, I can't find much not to like.
Customer Rating: Summary: Old Fan Comment: For the most part, I like this CD. She seems to be returnng to her "roots." For a while there her husband, who became her manager/director/whatever, had her doing some strange things and I didn't like those releases. But now on this CD she is back to her smooth jazz genre, music I can enjoy driving the highway as well as at home "kicking back."
Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful Comment: Diana has this low sexy voice and sings some of the romantic love songs I remember so well from my youth. A dramatic departure from the cacophony of "modern" music.
And for jazz aficionados, piano is the primary instrument played like you remember.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another Diana Krall CD Comment: I've been a Diana Krall fan for a long time. And I'm sorry to say this is not her best effort. Lots of lush strings. Interesting songs. But it just falls short of past efforts. Sorry.
Customer Rating: Summary: Recipe falls a bit flat Comment: This is one of those records that looks great on paper: song selection, orchestration, appealing singer. What's not to love. It's the singing, really. Diana sounds slurry and indistinct, coy and phony at times.
I recommend "Bossa Nova Stories" by Elaine Elias instead. Ms. Elias doesn't have a "belt 'em out" voice either, but does have an actual feel for the material that completely eludes Diana.
