Spotlight customer reviews: Customer Rating: Summary: Just assembled - Comparison with p90x chinup bar Comment: I just put this guy together. I haven't had a chance to try it out because the metal brackets that come with the p90x chinup bar don't let the iron gym extreme bar sit in them. 3 things off the bat from putting this together. #1 The main cross bar is two pieces, and it doesn't even get bolted together. It slides in then "interlocks". To be honest, this is probably fine because every other piece that screws into that main bar will prevent it from ever coming apart. But a difference from the p90x bar. #2 The bolts, nuts, and washers. These are better, at least the nuts are better on this bar versus the p90x bar. On the p90x bar, the nuts don't cover the ends of the bolts, and then bolts stick out through them. They are sharp and I have cut myself on them before if I wasn't careful. #3 The cross bar that rests against the upper part of your door on the other side, it sits on the top of the door frame. The one on the Iron Gym Extreme is CHEAP FLIMSY PLASTIC. I don't know how safe it is or isn't. However, I noticed that it would bend and give a LOT when I was doing normal pushups on the bar. The p90x bar has a metal cross bar that rests on top the door frame. It feels a LOT more sturdy. Maybe it doesn't matter, I don't know. Another two things: #1 The p90x bar is longer and can accommodate wider doorways. I think for this thing you need to purchase some extension bar. So the P90x bar is better in that case. #2 The p90x bar instead of using foam, it uses some kind of hard rubber padding on the parts that rest against the doorframe, and the part that you'd be holding if you were to be doing dips on it. This seems a lot more durable than the foam the Iron Gym Extreme uses. Aside from that - the two bars look completely identical save for color. This is the 2nd type of pullup bar like this that I own. The p90x one is for at home. The Iron Gym Extreme is for my GF's apartment. I also own 2 tension pullup bars. The nautilus one that cost a lot, and 1 other cheaper one from sports authority. Both types are great, but the p90x/Iron Gym extreme type offer a lot more grips and more exercise options. Using it for pushups is great. Dips are laughable on these things though. The tension bars have the benefit of not really needing to be assembled. Since I haven't used it yet - I can't tell how sturdy it is versus the p90x bar, but I thought I'd chime in at least for now. Customer Rating: Summary: Great pull-up bar, used it for P90X Comment: This is a very nice pullup bar. It is a good width and fits fine on the small door in my apartment.
