Answer for me is yes, at least on my equipment (nothing proprietary). Works fine for data and charging on Kindle 2. I use a lot of these retractable cables to keep my desk a bit cleaner from cable clutter and make traveling easier. This looks just like a retractable from another seller (not all) so maybe there is a factory making these for multiple companies. Because these are retractable the cable might be smaller, just be careful to pull on plug not the cable when removing. Clearly this cable is simply not compatible with Dare phones. It does seem to charge the phone, but I get the same USB error noted by another reviewer "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". Found this one on Amazon. It works just as advertised. The only "con" is the wires seem a bit thin and I worry that with continued use they will separate from the connectors. *******Update******** I read the other reviews about compatibility and other issues. I haven't had the problem. When I plugged in my LG VX8360 cellphone, my PC recognized it with the correct software download and I was able to download several Gbs of music. Both the cellphone and bluetooth headset recharge just fine. Maybe it's a quality control issue?
