AutoCAD LT software is known for its efficiency, power, and reliability. Now we've made it even better with 2D tools and commands you've been asking for. We also added PDF underlay capabilities and improved the quality of your PDF output. Take full command with AutoCAD LT 2010.

Customer Rating: Summary: oh my gosh YES, finally LT that's full featured Comment: I've been using ACAD 2010 LT for a couple of months now as my primary drafting program after finally upgrading from ACAD 2000. I've been able to do everything I was able to do in the old version, and have found many improvements in the workflow. Some of the highlights for me are:
- publishing to PDF - select layouts across multiple drawings to combine into one complete drawing set in PDF format.
- smart dimensions - dimensions connect to nodes in the viewport and automagically update as the drawing is updated
- hatch area grip edits - if the hatch becomes disassociated, you can edit the hatch like a polyline (almost - I haven't figured out how to adjust curves in a hatch)
- better grip editing for curves and other types of lines.
- you can trim and extend by crossing (I'm sure that was fixed in earlier releases, but, man, it's great to finally be able to do.)
- express tools gets integrated into the regular menus- and layer isolate has a matching layer unisolate
- true color (finally)
- good import of Microstation DGN functionality
- best of all, it's very stable, scrolling and zooming around the drawing don't cause the program to hang or crash.
It's been a pleasure to use, and I would highly recommend it to anyone as a primary drafting tool
Customer Rating: Summary: Structural Steel Detailer Comment: I have used Autocad ver 10,12,14, 2002 before Autocad 2010 LT.
I use the classic w/ 3 toolbars use keyboard commands.
I do not like some of the newer things like the ribbon but that is why autocad is so great you can set it up like you want.
The only thing I miss with LT it will not run lisp files but this can be done with an add on program.
I find that LT is easy to customize. I have customized the toolbars and the palettes.
I am a structural steel detailer use only 2D drawings.
I think that autocad 2010 LT is easy to use and is worth the money.

Customer Rating: Summary: Everything and more! Comment: AutoCAD 2010 LT is truly the answer to our needs! We had been running 2008LT, which did the job, but made certain things (PDF import, active XREF modifying, attribute editing, etc.) a total pain. 2010LT does all of these things and more. Most people say that the user interface is hard to adjust to, which we agree. However, 2010LT allows you to switch back to the "classic" AutoCAD view, which looks exactly like the older versions! As of now, not complaints!!
Customer Rating: Summary: AutoCad Review Comment: Installed with no problems on a Vista 64 bit machine. I am really surprised how well it runs on a 4 GB quad core. They continue to be a leader in the 2D market with the LT (light) product. We felt they wanted a premium for the full version and that prevented us from buying it. When we do go 3D, we may go with Pro-Engineer for more sophisticated and mature product.
Customer Rating: Summary: A good substitute for professionals who need 2D drafting tools, but who don't want to pay for the full version of Autocad. Comment: autocad LT 2010 is a good substitute for professionals who need 2D drafting tools, but who don't want to pay for the full version of Autocad. This is NOT the tool for someone looking to make basic drawings of their home, business or DIY projects.
I work for is a steel stocking and manufacturing company. We receive drawings from customers in Autocad format every day. All of our work is 2D, and Autocad is an essential tool in our portfolio of applications. The full version of Autocad is several hundred dollars more than this `Lite' version. That being said, make sure you compare the features of the Lite vs full versions at [...] so that you don't end up missing a feature that you need.
This is NOT the program for an average person looking to do casual drawings, floor plans, flow charts, etc. If you are an average user, the best program to use for you is likely to be Microsoft Visio. While it cannot do many of the technical things that Autocad can do, it can allow you to make floor plans, simple part drawings, etc.
Comparing v10 to previous versions:
You are going to either love or hate the ribbon. I like it. So do the people in my drafting department, including people who have been using Autocad for 10+ years.
The alignment functionality saves a lot of time. Worth the price of the upgrade by itself.
Layer management has been improved. Also worth the price of the upgrade.
If you are in need of training, or a refresher, I highly recommend the DVD-based training available through CADD Train - [...]
